There's two reasons for posting this thread. First of all I want to give a heads up that Namecheap, endorsed by many around here, might not always be that succesful as a choice for registering domains. At least when it comes to support. Second of all I know Namecheap staff frequevent NamePros, so I expect them to notice this and rush to help at least to save their name around here.
A month ago I decided to use Namecheap for registering several additional domains, so went to their site as usually and ordered both domains. Everything went as expected until the credit card processing came to a halt, as their service stalled. Eventually took around a minute until the page refreshed and stated both orders had failed and that credit card wasn't billed. Or had they?
I checked via a WHOIS tool if the domains had registered or not. Appeared that they had after all succesfully registered under my name. Also my credit card had been charged, so basically I had paid for the domains and they were registered. The Namecheap account did after several minutes list one of the two domains, so that one was okay. So thought the other one most likely too appears there soon.
I waited several days, but as nothing happen, decided to contact Namecheap support with a detailed description about the issue, containing the transaction IDs, etc. After several weeks of waiting, no reply or no action taken by Namecheap. Rrrright. Decided to file a new support ticket, containing once again very detailed information. It's now over a week since that, but yet again no reply from them.
I'm seriously starting to feel ichy about this. Failing to respond to valid support tickets sounds like something I would have expected from a less reputable company. I assume this thread will most likely get them to react, which will humor me, because not everything can be okay, if it takes a public discussion on a well-known domaining forum to react to customer complaints. Something similar also happen recently to an another NameProer, which got a reply after he had mentioned the issue here in addition to Namecheap support.
