Hello All,

I'm having a bit of an issue with name.com and pushing a domain. I've been with godaddy.com for most of my domain career and just within the last month moved 60% of my inventory over to name.com and have really liked the service.

Now my problem is this I purchased a name about 2 days ago and now I have sold the name and need to transfer it to another persons name.com account. When trying to do this it gives me the following error:

Error: Cannot transfer *******.info. Domain was registered in the past 5 days.

Is there something I'm missing or will name.com always give you this error for names registered less then 5 days ago? This is a real inconvenience to me and how I conduct business and the nature of domaining.

Let me know if there is something I can do to fix this or something I'm missing.

My current steps to pushing domain and getting this error:

Log in to account, Click Account Transfer, Input name, Input code of buyers account, leave all boxes checked and click ok ...goes to another screen asking am I'm sure...I click ok and then it gives me the 5 day error message.

Really irritating honestly

Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

Unfortunately, that is standard practice at Name.com

Maybe you can try to speak with them via customer support.
Worked to speed up some external transfer in the past.

Thank you both for the advice...unfortunately they only work mon-fri so I'll have to wait a few days. I hope I can avoid this issue in the future because this really puts a hamper on things honestly.

Rep sent to both of you for replying!

I'd also contact support and try to get their exact interpretation of their rules, since you transferred the domain and it's not a newly registered domain. Also try to get the rule lifted for your case. After all, it's only a push.

Transfers

Hello everyone,

My name is Ashley and I work at Name.com. To answer your question, as a security measure we do not allow internal transfers for 5 days after registration.

After the 5 days, a customer can transfer to any other name.com acct they wish.

Sorry if this is an inconvenience for you. If you have any other questions feel free to shoot us an email at [email protected].

Happy domaining!
-Ashley

Hello Ashley,

I appreciate you taking the time to answer my question on this matter. Although I feel I will have to find another registrar to do business because of this honestly. I can't afford 5 days of waiting due to how I do business and such. Buyers are not going to wait 5 days...So while I appreciate and respect it's for security reasons I will have to find another registrar.

Thanks

My thinking is that buyers will wait 5 days if it's explained to them. I don't have a problem with the 5 day wait. It's only on very rare occasions that you'll bump into that rule. Not enough to change registrar away from one of the most honest, easy CP, fastest checkout, registrars around.

Aw, we are sorry to hear that Blake, but understand where you are coming from. Let us know if we can do anything to help make your transfer process as smooth as possible.

P.s. Thanks for the love, Stub! :)
