MySpace said on Tuesday it detected and deleted 29,000 convicted sex offenders on its service. Its a good new but i wonder how many left there hidden in other names. Also thats US registered sex offenders there must be thousands in other countries too. still something is better than nothing.

It's a move to look good to the public, but they'll obviously return with fake names tricking others... sigh... :td:

Hopefully they'll pass that info along to the police!
Most of them probably have conditions relating to
internet activity where there is minors!

Well whom they deleted are Registered sex offenders. Which means Police knows them. and in fact Myspace took info about them from police to track them.

I just readed about Megan Law and this sex offender databeses, I'm little bit shocked that something like this exists, but I think this is really good method to fight with sex offenders.

I figured that is where Myspace got the info from,
and it's nice to see something being done!
I hope they charge all 29,000 of them!

Its a positive move by MySpace and I'm glad that they are finally doing something about it to protect the innocent children. I think that 29,000 is a lot of people but its a small fraction of how many sex predators are out there.

It's good, but let's be honest, kids are stupid. Parents let there kids get away with way too much on the internet. If you are stupid enough to meet someone off of the net you are in trouble, even if you are not a kid.

They should be shut down for letting 1 in never mind 29,000

Doesnt matter how hard it is, (it's not as if these people are thiefs that have stole something)

Even though they have millions of users they should have a better system for checking,

I've said it since the start, get a few sticks a dynamite and blow up there servers,

And make sure they never ever ever return.

nuff said :)

Yes alot more need to be deleted. If anything this is more of a publicity stunt but they will just sign up again and myspace really needs to crack down on this!

29,000 out of almost 200 Million is 1/100%. That's approximately 1 in 10,000. Is there data on the percentage of the total population that are sex offenders? Based on the spam I get I would imagine it being closer to 1 in 100.

they will just come back under a different user name and fake info. it is so easy to occult your real info those days on the net.
