I tried adding WHOIS/Spam protection to my .mobi there and I get a reply from MyDomain that the registry doesn't allow WHOIS privacy for .mobi domains. I had no problem getting WHOIS privacy for my other .mobis at DynaDot and Moniker. Why do different registrars have different stories?

Because they're different, of course. Why do you expect registrar B to do as
what registrar A exactly does?

I don't. I'm just wondering why MyDomain says that .mobi WHOIS privacy is not allowed by the registry, but other registrars allow you to have .mobi WHOIS privacy.

Registrars do not have to offer WHOIS protection they do it as an extra feature they can sell and they can do it on a per extension basis if they care to. MyDomain chooses not to provide it that's all.
