Yes, my first info handreg. I just listened to one of her songs, and (as a true domainer as I am), I checked her name.info and..... bingo :).

Has more than 11k OVT, so a good pick, especially because the tld makes sense with the domain.

Now the question is ... how problematic is the fact that she uses a " ' " in her name. Sinead O'Connor.

What you think?

Cheers,

Alex

If you mean SEO wise, it's not going to be a problem.

Today I regged other ones
tina-turner.info
no-doubt.info
alice-cooper.info
limp-bizkit.info
simple-minds.info
lenny-kravitz.info

all of them have more than 5k OVT.
I think of developing them in minisites, as .info is good for that, and content is easy to create with these names.

What should I expect for the in case I sell them though? For how much to let these go ( these were selected from a list of 1.200 famous musicians, bands and actors), so a lot of these are taken.

Thanks for any input.

As they are (just names) you probably couldn't get reg fee for them. The key is to develop them into a network of like minded sites, making sure that every one has the same collection of links on their main page, which list all of your other sites. It takes time for sites like this to build up traffic (some cases as much as 6 months) but eventually if you do it right, you could be making some pretty decent money with these sites. I would say with your 7 sites, if you were able to pull off about 1,500 uniques a day per site, maybe $2k a month in ad revenue.

I do something similar in the adult world but instead of rock stars, I do it with porn stars obviously :P But the concept is exactly the same. With adult it is much easier to make money with this type of thing but it can be done with rock stars just as easy as porn stars. You just need to be careful about the type of ads you put up to ensure you are making the maximum you can from the traffic you have.

AlexSimon: It was my understanding you couldn't register names like these - well you can.... but they can claim them back at any time. So unless your name is sinead etc you may have no recourse there.

I'm not 100% sure on the above either - just my interpretation of some previous rulings a few years back.

I'd check it out though just to be sure - before you spend money and time developing them.

Kelli: wow thanks for the great input. I will eventually develop them, as they are easy ones. I thought of creating a mini site for each one of these, with the same design, but I will have to learn how do to that, or where to get people who do that for me.

Sierra: Yes, there may be some TM problems with the names, but I don't think there should be. I mean look at who is the registrant of brucespringsteen.com (and it is .com). Unless you do not use it in bad faith (and I won't), there should be no problem. Of course there "can" be.
Or just look at the whois info for sineadoconnor.com:
http://whois.domaintools.com/sineadoconnor.com
These will be informative sites, and I will put some heart in them, as for example I like Sinead a lot (I registered the name during which I listened to Troy). Well, but my music preferences are another piece of cake :).

Thanks for the info's, really appreciate any help,

Cheers

Given my experience is more *adult* related, but in my 11 years experience I have found that if you create a fan site, in good faith as you pointed out earlier, the TM holders are typicallly more than willing to work with you.

I have more than one site where the trademark holder of the name has given me exclusive content for the site.

On the other side of things though, I have seen TM holders go after TheirName.com like there is no tomorrow, so avoid those at all cost and always make it very clear your site is a FAN site.

I would never purchase this names because they have hyphen,
hyphen kills value, I saw many .infos like this dropping recently and I registered only one :) You have Ali-G.info and I have AliG without - ;)

Well right now they are not valuable. However if you plan to develop each one into a web site, i think they will receive decent traffic. Then they will worth quite a bit.

Good luck developing them.

I feel that without any development the domain would be worth reg fee, however, with development into a mini fan site, you could significantly increase the value.
