Not going to name the domain for a couple of days, I want to see that first payment go through, but basically, I wanted the domain, but did not have the cash to purchase straight up. So, I started looking at their payment plan program, and I have to say, I really like that. I was able to make a purchase where I would not have been able to grab the domain.

They offer 24 months, equal payments, no interest. I get use of the domain, so I am assuming I will be able to point the nameservers to my host, and make some money while I pay the domain off.

In my head, this is a great way to sell domains, especially in this time when money is tight for some people.

Have you bought or sold a domain using a payment plan, and do you recommend one particular platform over another for the purpose of selling domains via payment plans?

Not only a great way to sell domains but to buy them to.....if they are good quality

I have been paying for a domain using a payment plan - have one payment left via a private transaction....
terms where 12 monthly payments, the contract drawn up is based in the UK where both of preside and it has been smooth as silk.

The guy I am dealing with is a total Pro and can't sing his praises enough.....great experience so far, I have been gearing up for launch for the last few months and looking forward to taking full ownership of the domain next month :xf.smile:

No interest added, had to cover the cost of the renewal which should be standard imo......

Sooo no particular platform involved but a positive experience none the less.....

I didn't even realise this was possible - thanks for the heads up.

    Just checked their FAQ page:

"When is a sale considered final?
All sales are subject to the final approval of HugeDomains and we reserve the right to deny fulfillment of any order at any time, and for any reason. In the event that HugeDomains decides to stop fulfillment of an order and payment has already been rendered by the buyer, we will issue a complete refund immediately. Only once the domain name has been transferred into the buyer's name and the buyer has received possession of the domain will a sale be considered final." (source)

I wonder what might happen if you create the next big thing, before paying off the domain?

HugeDomains is a professinal business, they have been around for a long time
they are in the domains business, and they are banking every year on these leases
they have zero reason to destroy their reputation for one transaction

when you launch a business, don't focus on the things that can go wrong,
because 99% of your fears will never materilize

Epik and DAN also allow payment plans in their marketplaces. Not sure who all else does.

Fair enough but it was worth pointing out. This may be a standard contract clause with domain leasing - I couldn't say - but it's not something that I would feel confident about until the contract was finalised.

Any industry or company that offers payment plans will see a increase in business. Domains are probably the most fair easy to understand payment plans of all industries and we should be proud of that.

Ebay years ago started offering payment plans (installments) they said it increased business.

Anyone here old enough to remember the TV commercials selling things for X easy payments of Just XX.XX?

The other thing I think we should learn from HD is that as far as I know all their names or at least most have a BIN price, they move a lot of domains, they know what works best.

The only thing I wish I knew is how many people call the phone number? My landers that go to Dan have no phone number and I wonder if for the average person no phone number is a bad sign or if there was a phone number maybe it would be easier to close when they call.
