I'm hoping someone may be able to help me out on this. I'm involved in a network of websites based around MMORPG's. All the websites in this network are similar in terms of structure, and all include vB forums. What i'm wanting to do i link the communities together, so that when you register for one site, you're also registered for the others.

Obviously one solution could be to just have a single set of forums that every site points to, however I want us to have seperate forums for each site, drawing from one cumulative user database.

I hope that makes some sort of sense, and I know it is possible because I have seen other sites do it - so if anyone could explain how its done or point me in the right direction that'd be great.

Cheers

Not entirely sure - but you could edit the code on the login/register pages so that they use a user database you specify

I agree with Mikor, if possible use one database for registration/login and maybe only run 2 or at most 3 off one database. Over time if you have multiple forums running from one database things will begin to get mighty slow and that database wont be able to keep depending on # of posts and number of members online.
