More than 20,000 .XYZ dropped today

According to Domainpunch's statistics, more than 20,000 .XYZ were dropped today. Far from a surprise, but maybe worth to mention. Are these the Network Solution drops?

They are probably not available to register for quite some time yet.

Ps. I just check the ones with up to 5 characters and all (maybe except 2 or 3) were just nonsense.

Too early. The Roboreg thing went on for a few months and there's a domain name life cycle which means that many dropping domains may only drop 45 days or so after their renewal comes due. This is going to run and run.

If xyz launched the same time com did the only difference would be one is pronounceable and the other isn't. But xyz is easy to remember. Back in the day many had to tell people when saying com how to spell com. Again if it would have been xyz everyone would have understood it better than com. JMO

XYZ is easy to remember compared to .antidisestablishmentarianism, but not to .com, .net. .org or most cc TLD's.

It's a horrible extension.
Say the following out loud:
"Cars.com"
"Cars.xyz"

Cars.com - two syllables. Easy to remember and convey.
Cars.xyz- four syllables, random string of letters, difficult to convey

The reason ccTLD's can work is that they're associated with the country, and most people in those countries that to domains targets know those abbreviations.

.xyz means nothing. To the world, .com means a web site - and most remotely web savvy people now that it's generally means a business web site, as opposed to a .org or .gov

I can't see value here.

I think .xyz will go down as one of the biggest and quickest failures. When you give away stuff for free to boost numbers, it's bad news. The renewal rate will be sad IMO.

I did contact them to ask how I can purchase 1 t-shirt for my birth day because I am a HUGE FAN and BOOM I got all of this stuff! Maybe it is not for investors but it is a good extension for startups and ME

There are still 6000-12000 daily .XYZ drops. In just a few days the total number or registered names will be less than 700,000.

Will .XYZ lose more than 50% of its regs before New Year?!
