.mobi More bank registrations

Hi boys and girls, while i was looking for shortened names of banks to squatt on i have found a couple of bank reg's

J.P. Morgan Chase $50b in investment has JPMC.mobi

Industrial & Commercial Bank of China $250b in investment has ICBC.mobi

While these have not been developed i think its a good indication of the future of these mobi's IMHO

What does Jeff think and others.

I think it means nothing ... but can, one day, become "newsworthy" IF their ™ and other reserved corporate .MOBI domains become developed & added to the 'ecosystem', and then significantly promoted within their respective marketing and advertising budgets for unique and compelling mobile usage, IMHO. :gl: :talk:

I disagree, I think it means something that these banks have secured their .mobi domains. Just because they're not developed yet doesn't mean they won't be, it's still early yet. Ever heard of corporate red tape? Things sometimes take a while in the corporate world. Major changes/additions don't normally occur overnight.

It would mean nothing if they didn't have them.

I think banks are one of the prime uses for mobi. Pure up to the second text information and a valuable asset to consumers. If they don't get used, nothing will.

More bank mobi domains:

RBS.mobi registered to Royal Bank of Scotland

Canada has 5 major banks, all of them big players. Three have secured their mobi domains.

RBC.mobi registered to the Royal Bank of Canada

Scotiabank.mobi registered to the Bank of Nova Scotia

CIBC.mobi registered to Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce

I didn't find anything for the other two banks, the Bank of Montreal, and the Toronto Dominon Canada Trust

I would have to agree. Actually, mobile banking will probably be the only reason I'll buy a cell phone (xx,xxx mobi domainer w/o cell lol).

how could it mean nothing? even if they didn't have it, it would mean something? everything means something, it depends how deep you want to go. sure there are inferences and speculation in reading into things, but here, a sector looks poised for employment of the extension.

Nice to see more banks picking up their .mobi's -- true, at this point they may simply be "protecting their trademark", but in the future...it may mean something even more. In fact, if/when .mobi gains popularity, I'm quite confident that we'll see these .mobi's being actively used, and hopefully promoted!
