Do we have moderators? Well, we could use one in the domains wanted section

There are threads that keep going and going like the Energiser bunny long after they are supposedly "closed". We need someone who can REALLY close the topic. IMHO of course.

This is very true, and was the topic of another recent thread I started myself. There is no easy solution, but RJ said he was going to work on tweaking something in vB to close the threads after a certain time with no activity. So, it's coming.

Ok, my easy going nature is often translated as blatent disrepect, my apologies. I'm not too familiar with vB as I am a IB man and am used to closing topics left and right so that no more posts are able to be made in them I will relax and go with the flow a bit more. Please carry on. This place is wonderful and I should express that more often...as I am learning a TON.

Hey, Jimmy. Indeed, RJ is continually working on improvements to the forum. Right now, one of the things he's working on is a script to auto-close threads based on certain criteria, and not only within the Domain Wanted section.

Meanwhile, feel free to use the "report-bad-post" feature to help solve the problem.

The thread that brought this issue to my attention is the "Nice two word domain" thread. I resonded twice in that thread, then I decided to read through the whole thing and realized that it had been "closed" long ago via some post that read "closed". If a thread is "closed" why are we still able to add posts to it?

I'm serious about that dude disappearing though (right after he got smart with the mods). I'm pretty sure they got him locked up somewhere. I heard 'Armstrong' goes by and teases him, and pokes him with a stick, for no apparent reason. :o

I am working on something that will auto-close threads based on certain criteria. I just yesterday did so in the Welcome forum because of a similar problem with old threads constantly being bumped.

I wanted to do something a little more advanced with the Domains Wanted forum so that the thread starter has a little more control over keeping his wanted thread active. This solution is coming quickly. I've been busy working on lots of items for the site.

Implemented. Thread owners can also re-open their threads now if they get closed automagically.
