Hi,

Does anyone know where I can find information regarding the minimum number of characters a .cctld is allowed to register? For instance some countries accept 1-2 characters and most only accept minimum of 3 characters.

Any help regarding this is much appriciated!

Dan

I want to know this info too. Usually I just check the official registration authority for this. But I don't think you can reg any 1-2 characters domain nowaday.

Oh yes, there are a number of two letter (yes I said letter, as in LL) names left in little used extensions, lots more than you have money to buy. .tc, .vg, .ms, .gs, .la, .vc, .hn are some of them. The problem is that a year from now you have to pay another reg fee, and the next year another. Most are $50/year. 676 total names for each extension that allows LL names (many do not) and they just sit there. A lot of information in my TLDv website in my signature. Someday I will pull out the info on all the extensions that have LL names. I suspect the L. names are all taken in the international domainer-friendly extensions, might try .tm, if you have an extra $1,000.

Lots of countries restrict their domains to residents, or even registered businesses within the country. Poker. TV. and sex. sit there unregistered and you can't have them.
