I was looking at some of the most expensive domains ever and decided to check out some of the sites and realize that many were undeveloped, parked, or doesn't resolve anywhere.

What a waste!

tech.com and technology.com – no sites.

beer.com – If vodka sold for $3,000,000 . beer.com can be even bigger!

green.com - WOW!

Watches.com

Network.com , Networks.com , Networking.com. Each can be worth at least a million bucks.

Cameras.com – $1,500,000 sold in 2006 , Currently a parked domain.

Ticket.com – $1,525,000 sold in 2009. Nothing here.

Spain.com – $Priceless .

Italy.com – $priceless.

Have you seen any other super premiums domains collecting dust?

Do you own a super premium and not doing anything with it?

Which super domain would you take over and what would you do with it?

thanks for posting Beer.com. My friend owns that and a very proud man. It was the case of 1994 when

Your friend is sitting on a gold mine with beer.com . Is he so rich that he doesn't care about developing it?

who buys a domain for 7 mil and does naff all with it.

I think there should be rules in place to prevent people sitting on them forever and doing nothing with them.

I also talk as a man who owns zero super premium domains lol

They had money and they can sit on thier money or gold mine if they want.
If you have a million dolars super premium domain maybe you will busy to do many another works not only domainning because you are a millionaire.
And I think you will not sell your domain name for money.
This is my opinion only.

You have to prove that you're going to use any IP addresses that are assigned to you. If you don't use them, they're recollected. Contrary to popular belief, there are IPv4 addresses remaining for endpoints; there just aren't any left to be delegated to large regions (roughly continents) for further allocation. This is mostly because old IPs get reused if they fall into disuse. Of course, the whole thing is rather complex--there are large blocks of IP addresses that have fallen into disuse and won't be reclaimed, for various reasons--but that's the general idea.

There's a catch, though. ICANN makes a lot of money. IANA (in charge of IPs) doesn't. You don't have to pay for an IP address--at least, you don't have to pay the higher-ups. ISPs charge fees because they want to make a buck, but they keep the money. So IANA is nice and makes sure IPs are fairly distributed, for the most part. ICANN, on the other hand, will halt all progress to pick up a penny.

And so now the bar at beer.com is serving ads. On the bright side, ICANN isn't the only one making money. Just remember that you'll never make as much as ICANN; their club has high entrance fees because they only cater to high-paying customers.

...what is he so proud about? His family, I hope. There are so many more important things to be proud about besides domain names...

I think if he wants to hold it fine, there us a lot of territory in cyberspace for all to enjoy...

I completely disagree. Wanna know why? Because if somebody pays $7 million for something, they can do what they please with it.;)

He is proud of because This name has made him Famous and whenever we enjoy Beer, we wanna to plunder him.

Why most of the domains are undeveloped-- Because those are owned by collectors, who loves to own things like cars, stamps, currencies, toys, scotch and so is true for Domains also.

Yah it is true that owner of such kind of domains are millionaire and they do not have to bother about day to day things.

Those guys are millionaires, they will sell it if they encounter a tight financial situation. IMO.:)

Domain collectors... that's a new one for me. He should develop a fun beer widget to stick on there or something so it's not a parking page.

I'm not saying its not, but ICANN should retain some rights. You know when you buy a game from steam/origin etc, you dont actually own the game. Simply the licence to use it.

I think domains should be the same way. That way it gives everybody a chance to do something with a super premium domain. Rather than just the privileged few.

If you afford to sit on a million pound domain you can afford to do something with it.

...I don't care if someone sits on a name. It gives other names of different extensions that have sites great visibility so the collector is helping those that have them.

Hey, if one wants to hoard names it's ok with me. It is only a name and that is all it will ever be. Nothing to be proud of in reality.

Like I stated in a previous post, there is a lot of territory in cyberspace to be concerned about a silly name. Best of luck to your buddy, and to us all!...

Here is a tip, if you have a good idea for a domain AND can make it happen a-z and all you need is the name, then contact the domain owner.

YOU WILL be surprised how many will do a partnership with you.

But I find that many simply want the domain, they won 't do anything with it just sit on it as well, remember, many good domains you see was purchased by a guy that was shocked that nothing was done with the name.

You present a plan for a name and it might work out well for you, keep in mind don't waste time with ideas only, be able to do everything A-Z and have the funds to make it happen, or no one will reply to you.

What if he steals my idea blah blah blah is just an excuse for not doing anything, if he wants to sign an NDA great if not still try to pitch it, everyone I know walking around all day worried about people stealing ideas they have is broke.

I tried doing this before. It's pretty risky though, for both parties. You have to have a detailed plan and you need a lawyer to review the terms. You would have to shell out all the money and development costs. Also you may need to pay the owner monthly the amount he would have otherwise generated from parking which can be $10k+ a month.
