Microsoft Argo's Final Name: The Zune?
Our inboxes are on fire with brand new information about the new Microsoft MP3 player. We thought the player was code-named "Argo", but we now got word that the final product name that's been flying around is the "Zune"!

The pic on the right seems to be the final design, which makes the player very clean—a definite departure from Microsoft's other endeavors. You all remember the video Microsoft's own people made to illustrate their packaging shortcomings? Well, it seems like they haven't learned much, as our tipster tells us the packaging itself is pretty ugly.

Our mole also says there's no game menu to be seen on the device, putting those rumors of portable gaming from Xbox branding in possible jeopardy. More game options possibly coming in the 2nd iteration.

There's also mention of a black version of the Zune, being shown on a music video for the band CSS, and the brown version on the cover for "Band of Horses". You can display Album covers for the song you're listening to on the screen, which is "big enough" and looks "pretty good". Paul Oakenfold also has a tie-in deal.

From the looks of things, the Zune will definitely be ready for a Xmas release.

Been some talk about a community board so I just spent a couple hours doing this -- www.ZuneBuzz.com to see what happens.

According to the Hyper Dictionary buzz is:
[n] a confusion of activity and gossip; "the buzz of excitement was so great that a formal denial was issued"

so it can fit current activity/rumor mill.

If there is interest I'll fix it up with nicer theme(s) boards etc etc.

Open to suggestions.

thought I'd register here after searching on my latest domain name and saw it being mentioned here. I was the lucky *&~@% who got zunezone.com - sorry to those of you who missed it by moments.

Great thread, as many of my thoughts have been covered here, except I managed to limit myself to ONE Zune domain name only Currently just keeping tabs on the Zune news, but who knows where it will go over the next few months.

Hope they don't change the name now!

definitly a good thing. i dont think im going to jump the gun like that. i will start my community once we get that big seal of approval on the name. plus i want to start with VB so i have to wait. dont want to spend the money for nothing lol. great job tho

I just purchased Zune.us - $200

With help from my relative's contact with the original registrant.

The original owner is happy and made a nice quick profit for a fresh hand registration, and I'm happy with a reasonably modest investment. I figured it was worth a shot. If the product name does stick, it could be a nice result. If it doesn't, well, at least the "ouch" will not be too bad.

But one thing for sure, you can't win if you don't play.

We need to write back and see if they are a NP'er. And if not, tell them to join.

zunezilla.com, nice name...not means I want to buy, but I always like zilla names...zilla is very nice to meet the name, as zilla very suitable for high tech products(software/hardware) or service.

if I can earn enough money($300K is the target) from domainning and mini sites, I will open a digital shop in local mall, and use my digizilla.com as the name, selling zune/ipod/wii...etc what a wonderful dream!

As often repeated. It is a gamble. Not much different than playing penny stocks etc.

It is very true that 'you can't win if you don't play'. Recall all the posts here where people say 'if only I had reg'd <insert domain catagory here>'.

I personally think Zune is a nice takeoff on Tune -- much more interesting than the boooooring vista thing.
