Anyone having any "luck" with Mesolthelioma or related types of domains? I see some are actually marketing pre-packaged content sites.. is this effective? Any comments?

Lots of discussion on this in the PPC folder right now, actually.
In brief from my experiences:
1) Mesothelioma is about played out. The bids are down HUGE since the hay-day of $100+ a click. They're down over 90%+ for content clicks, as the advertisers have found content clicks to be racked with fraud and the content the clicks have come from not too impressive.
2) MOST content (Not all) is basically piecemealed together from other sites, very little of it is original or "visitor attracting" for lack of a better word.
3) The one way to do well is to optimize the heck out of some search engine results and get listed highly enough in the non-paid results that folks click out of your site and on to some other site that they think might actually be worthwhile ;)

Unless cancer/lawsuits/classaction is your cup-of-tea, you'll most likely wind up quickly bored with no meaningful contribution to the ever blossoming content-gasm that now exists.

Just my .02

Is there a reason why these names would be desirable?

Because the topic is a "high priced" topic that if you developed a content site around could theorhetically net you a good CPC with Adsense or similar.

And yes, "allegedly" is the key phrase ;) Considering how little we actually know about science/medicine and what we used to consider to be true (OBGYN's causing every birth defect (Hello, John Edwards), Breast Implants causing everything from lupus to cancer, etc.) that we now know not to be the case (Or at least not entirely, as the suits would have alleged).

yes, I can confirm that the bids are not as high as some people think them to be.

In all seriousness, the domain name bonecancer.us is available with keyword daily stats of 1200 wordtracker and 800 overture

Are there similar situations beside the asbestos-related cancers that might be new hunting grounds for inflated clicks? Certainally there are quite a few environmental/chemical cancer related issues. What about wrongful death and injury in general?

Just watch the news for class-action suits.
Asbestos/mesothelioma...
Then Merck/Vioxx...

There will be more, just give it some time.

One word of warning: Laws regarding forum shopping (in particular) have changed dramatically, making nationwide client-hunts less of a firm-specific task. I don't think clicks will ever be so high again (And certainly not for Content based clicks unless click fraud is finally controlled).

That seems likely...
