Walked past a McD's today and noticed that they are using a .info domain.

mcdonaldsmenu.info

I'm sure there are other major corporates using .info, but this is the first I've seen it on printed marketing material.

Neat.

k1dprodigy, the problem with that is each company's respective trademark. You wouldn't make too much.

burgerkingmenu.info redirects to http://www.burgerking.de/

That's part of the reason I thought mcdonaldsmenu.info was interesting - its an actual site instead of a redirect.

Looks like the BK one is not reg'd by BK. Someone trying to build fake PR?

It makes sense to use .info if you're providing information. I can see extensions and expected usage becoming much more defined with .info the biggest beneficiary. At the moment people use .com like sheep even when the keyword is more suited to .info and they're not actually selling anything.

The three dominant extensions are going to be .com, .org and .info with country codes for local services. .net is a dinosaur with no obvious use apart from as a second rate .com, .biz is a joke, and .mobi is technically obsolete because the Internet is already mobile and browsers will downsize standard content for mobiles and handhelds without users having to go to another site with a .mobi extension.

I totally agree with that.

By the way, mcdonaldsmenu.info was shown already on McD's paper towels at least 2 years ago.. they've been using it for a long time now.

Don't start the .mobi bashing. Wouldn't want this to turn into a .mobi discussion again... :hehe:

I read that in some countries, .net's more popular than .com but I forgot which ones though.
