Making a living on the internet.

Just wondering if people here are making a living (don't have another job) on the internet, that is getting income from trade of domainnames and advertisement income?
To start with myself, I do not make a living of internet, but having said that, I just started to develop some sites. There are 2 online now, one is 3 months old bringing in around $100 a month and rising, the other is 1 month old and bringing in zero so far (only a couple of $), but soon there will be 5 more websites online.
What does this business do for you, is it a nice expensive hobby, an extra monthly income besides your week job or do you make a living out of doing this, John.

If by "making a living" you mean covering the fees I've paid and at least breaking even....then NO I AM NOT MAKING A LIVING! :)

Thanks for your replies. Gartrout and Mvannote, I'm in the same situation as both of you, ehhh.. not totally true, I don't break-even yet :hehe:
I hope to be in the situation of Italks and Premium as more sites get online quick now, but first of all, breaking-even would be nice :)
Although I have the feeling that a lot of people at this forum make a decent living of only their own websites.

Well, I make a living by developing websites so others can make a living off of them ;). Though I consider this a hobby (one I really love) it also brings a nice extra income, specially considering my business demands a lot of online time anyway.

Paying it's way nicely, does that mean that you can live of this? Are your 1,500 sites all parked or do you have developed ones also? If so, is developement better than parking (cost/revenue wise) in your opinion?
Thanks Italks, I hope we all will do well with this nice 'hobby' :)

It's not my full time job.

My net profit each month (ad revenue - registrations and renewals) is between โ‚ฌ1,500 and โ‚ฌ1,800.

I would be nice if internet activities bring enough for living. Not at the moment, but it is quite reasonable part of my income.

Living ?
Lets say it makes my living easier and more comfortable.
Car, Motorbike, Quad, Gadgets, Restaurants, Cigars, and red Wine and all the stuff that makes life more atractive.
Formerly also girls, but now I am married ;)

I am a firm believer that each and everyone of us has an idea that can make you $300 a year, an idea that can make you $3,000 a year, and an idea that can make you $30,000 a year ...

I am about ready to launch a new website where you can watch me build three new websites this next year ... and you can take a look at how my last three websites are doing this year ...

I wrote an article about my $300, $3,000, and $30,000 idea here. ...

Website #1 the $300 idea has bombed, however, is on track to make well over its $300 goal for the year ...

Website #3 the $3,000 idea (launched in January of this year) is on track to make $6K this year ... and

Website #2 is on track to make $30K this year ...

So can you make a living on that? Well, maybe not by themselves ... but my goal and strategy is to build 3-5 websites a year each with a target of making $3,000 in residual income each year ... some will make more than that $3,000 and some will bomb and make less ...

But I believe that each of us can do at least that well ...

Greg
