Is any of your making a living of domain sell/buy/parked domains?

I recently got into this business, I've been a webmaster for 4 years but now it seems to be an interesting field to get in. Of course, you need budget and all good domains are mostly taken but you go building your portfolio with time.

So is any of you doing this? making a living of it? when did u start? how you do it? where you park? who gets you better rates? etc..

All info possible :)

I only register domains if i want to develop them. If you are planning just buy domains and resell them, you won't make as much money as selling them after you develop them ;)

Holy cow! What names were those? :tri:
Most of the sales were covered by NDAs. One that wasn't, and as particularly relevant to this thread, was spamzilla.com ($35k). This is a perfect example of how a little creativity and a little patients can pay off.

best advice > made-up names are still the best bargin imo.....
I agree completely. There are many decomposability to make up interesting words. One way is with prefixes and suffixes where there are constantly new ones being created and others going in and out of style. Combined with new words that are constantly being invented we have a renewable supply of new “decent” names, many of which have serious potential.

At the peak of the dotcom bubble there were various prefixes and suffixes that were all the rage. my*, top*, best*, *zone, *planet, *world, etc. Any popular noun combined with any of those was guaranteed to be taken. But new words come around. Blogs had not yet hit the main stream and names myblog.com (reged 1/3/2002) were readily available. Today a name like that would be worth serious money. Pick something that's going to be hot in a couple years, register all these variations and you'll make good money.

My philosophy is that the quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket. When it comes to domains, it is as prima said, a time consuming job that can only guarantee good returns in several years. So invest well now for the future and not the short term.
