I'm not sure how people can believe the crap that sites like Chaomi.cc and 111.co spit out... I mean the price hikes are based on single sales, the "current values" per venue stay the same (flat lines) as there are no sales and people figure that has to be the a new floor.

You are right. Haven't done Sedo even yet.

I am doing it scientifically, basically. For 2 months, I did not list them anywhere to see if I will get natural inquiries as I do with .com. And 1800+ domains is a big sample size for the experiment. Zero inquiries during that time proved my hypothesis that non-profits are different breed. They are clueless about whois search etc. They will just go and look for longer version, dashes etc. Then I listed them at Afternic, live since Jan 20. And in about 27 days since then 3 sales, proving the theory. Now I am going to add Sedo to the mix, experiment another month.

The following part of the experiment will be checking the price elasticity of the domains. I will randomly price them at different bands, "lucky/non-lucky endings" and will share the outcome.

Yo should note that chinese buyers as usual pay this price minus renewal fee for transfer to chinese registrar.
so for chinese investor 31$ at 22.cn = $21 at godaddy.

There is no readily available liquidity between Western and Chinese markets. Whoever undertakes to provide such a "liquidity" does it on the following basis:

a) enough discount worth the trouble of buying, transferring to Chinese registrars, selling, covering risk of fluctuations, profit;
b) using Chinese prices as indicators for values and buying considerably below hoping that eventually he will get offers covering costs, risk of fluctuation, profit.

So when you see Chaomi price of $30 and NP price of $14, the $16 is how much that trouble is valued at (50% of Chinese price, but still small in absolute number). For LLLL.com chips, for example, it can be $150-300 per name (large in absolute number, but only around 10% of Chinese price to reflect risks of fluctuation and % profit).

there is nothing else 4L which should be called liquid now imo. cause its confusing, and takes away from the nice meaning of the term liquid... the floor values of everything else 4L other than above two combos, is just too low to be termed liquid imo... at ~5-10$ plus minus.

So you can imagine in 2 years after now... More Chinese,Indians and world wide people will be aware of internet investment and will like to buy liquid domains.. As how we were all attracted to liquids when we discovered it first time..
Last year when we were talking about Chinese hype most people thought market will not last long... But look now there are more Chinese company opening up domain platform to get position in the market..Even now western companies trying to get involved..
So, i would say it's expanding and would be big mistake to ignore it ...

The beauty with LLLL.org is their end user potentiaI for organizations looking to brand on a short(er) domain.
I have been investing in 4L.org since mid November '15 (purchased 550 of them between $4 and $8) and have already sold 1 via Sedo (end user inquiry/sale) for $5,000 - so more than got back my entire investment already.

4.cn - I've listed my names but never managed to set up an auction.

If you want to make private deals on WeChat and QQ, you need to start networking which takes up a lot of time. Language barriers are the major issue, try having a conversation with someone using auto translation. It took me the best part of 3 hours to close a deal for a batch of 10 4l.biz. A lot of haggling and then a lot of time finalising payment and pushing etc. Most want transfer auth codes instead of account push.

Each investor I chatted with had interests in various extensions and no interest in some. This varies a lot in my experience.

My thoughts? It's not worth going down any of the above routes unless you have more valuable names to sell because it's a very time consuming process.

Hence why I've been selling some here on NP instead. The good news is there is more and more Chinese investors signing up here on NamePros.

It is flirting with 300Rmb ($45) as of now. I guess, that is psychological barrier for now, but once it breaks away from it, it might go to 500Rmb a piece.

If you look at Chaomi, they have put .org 5th on the list, right below .com, .cn, .com.cn and .net. Shows the pecking order for Chinese, which is a good sign for .org. Another good sign is that it is still only about 15% of .net prices. Many expect this ratio to shrink to 1/2-1/4 range.

Next ones are .cc, net.cn, .biz, .wang, .top, .org.cn (and this is a good sign too, if org.cn is desirable, then .org is really great)...
