The domains I have been buying recently either are low priced quad premiums, or domains with something unique. Such as palindromes (650 total), triple repeating letters, etc.
When you have something unique it is less likely to get lost in the mix.
Those are exceptions to the rule. I bet I could post 10x as many of those that went for under $35 in recent sales.
Those are also not that bad letter combinations.
