So both LLL.com's I've bought I've gotten offers granting over 50% gain in 1 week or less, the first I didn't take, the 2nd I have and will hopefully result in my first 5-figure sale. The LLL.com has gone from something I've talked lots of trash about to my favorite domain market! I can see why a lot of people like .mobi...even if it's hard at the end of the day to justify the prices paid for some of these names (I'm sorry but names like ZXQ.com look butt ugly to me), there's definitely money to be made in resales.

Thanks guys. The names are OTY.com and MXN.com (not FULLY sold yet, but I even have a back-up buyer at the sold price).

Three letter domains are sound investments. Even those who do not have the budgets to purchase LLL.com should be looking to add at least one or two three letters in other, more affordable TLDs or ccTLDs. Three letter domains are generally more liquid (that other domains) and have a historical record of increasing in value over time. In other words, three letter domains have the benefits of offering the owner a high profit potential while reducing investment risk.

Shameless self-promotion: I've got several prime LLL.us up for sale right now. (DOS.us and CSI.us)

Without a doubt LLL.com's are solid investments. I recieve offers constantly on mine and am looking for a nice little gain on my current one. I will most likley be picking up a few more as my sales increase in the next 2 months. Good job. and welcome to the club.

.ca is growing but too restricted to reach mainstream.

First off, nice ones! Secondly, I think what it is is that knowing the low-end of the market value of the main LLLs (thanks to 3character.com), the market value of all of them is a bit more defined. Rather than a handful of people believing in a particular rock-bottom price, you have a ton of people referencing a particular rock-bottom price and more or less sticking with it. Not only that, but while there ARE of course end-user sales and end-uses for LLLs, the ones that don't have real defined end-uses can be evaluated in the same way as real estate: comp sales with adjustments.

It's funny because in my day job, I work for a national real estate appraisal firm and have always wondered if domains could ever have a standard for valuation. It's hard to say if it will ever happen, as the average joe end-user would need to get educated on domains and what makes them valuable, and I think that's way far off into the future. The closer reseller and end-user price get, the more likely there will be a way to appraise domains and have it mean something. Let's hope of course if they do get closer, it's reseller pricing closing the gap and not end-user pricing! :)
