Many many "Reserves Not Met"

How come?

Capt Obvious says " rotd had domains at a reserve price ? While others were forced to do no reserve as indicated by all the No Reserve Met listings?

Kinda sticks out like a sore thumb.

Surprised Travel.Agency didn't have a reserve price. As it sold for way below $10k

Really makes one wonder what "criteria" was used to decide who or what domain was allowed to do reserve price?

Submitted a 100k domain name. Was told no reserves. Had it been in the auction it probably would have sold for 10k to another investor. But, at least I would have 10k in my pocket instead of waiting for a buyer with big budget.

I see 3 different outcomes mentioned for 'AdvertisingAgency.com'

The first list says 'reserve not met' @81k, the second list seconds the first list. The third list says it sold @81k?

I was in the online auction but slept in the middle so I skipped this one.

guys, I dont know why...I feel very lucky not listing any of my names in here..

not sure why ppl so passionate with Namescon....

these are not top names, but final sale prices even worse....

I feel namescon didnt organize very well, many domainers feel uncomfotable with that how they selected name, how they forced us to remove reserve price, and how they managed sell cheap

Look like only Mont one person managed all.....I dont trust such a group focused more on quantity of sales rather than quality

The domains selected for auction is very biased...There should be a panel deciding, not one person with an agenda and allegiance to his buddies...There were many high quality names not selected because they did not fit his agenda. The whole industry suffers as a result.

I was about to but something made me not to. either that I'm just lazy. lol

but I don't want to speak ill about anyone in this biz as you never know when or if you will ever need them or find yourself in a position to need them for anything.

I for one don't like the idea grovelling at the foot of someone I've just crap talked because I need something from them.

never burn your bridges. 1# rule of business. sometimes you have to deal with the devil you don't like. lol

not saying these people are devils mind you. just saying there are people you will come across you don't like but will eventually have to do business with.

so sometimes it's best to keep a zip lip. and as I'm just starting out. that's good advice to myself.

and anyone else.

but I will state facts. the sold prices do leave most of us surprised and confused.

•••
I submitted lots of names, and 5 names selected. I rejected one name to list b/c they want no reserve price- but the name was purchased by me at 10k.

I assume other 4 names they accepted should be listed or notified me how they will deal with. However, no news, no updates.

Their response was very unclear, and I am sure that they have too many names submitted and even themselve doent know how to select names. So I am OK with my selected names removed

Last year we connected with one of the organizers who'd previously listed one of our names into mid six figures. I suggested we would be prepared to go to auction with it but his knee jerk price back was 5 - 10k.

•••
there is of course DomainFest Asia. although who has money to go to Macau? lol

I thought the sale prices seemed good on some and not so good on others. The selection was very odd. I still don't get it. Bringing the investors and domainers together, I'm surprised the selection wasn't stronger and the reserves weren't higher.

As long as buyers and sellers are happy, so be it!

•••
I had a domain in last year and it sold. I also had a reserve set because I don't trust auction houses. They can sway the auction so easily. Like this recent Namescon. If you have time and if they put the video back up like they did last year. You will notice they had the bid at:

$5000

and the next bid was $10,000.. They did this with so many names.

Who in the world jumps up $5000 a time for a bid??

And there was also one that was at $100,000. Next bid was $200,000!!!!!

I wouldn't put my name in without a reserve. Don't get suckered.

•••
Guys , there will always be suspicion. Why didn't I get to put a reserve, and he did? Well, kind of depends on the quality of name, and that is subjective to opinions. Fact is, everybody thinks thier names are worth more than somebody else does 95% of the time. And if they all had reserves, none or very few would sell, because people tend to reserve for end user prices and your are holding an auction for a bunch of domain investors. It takes a lot of effort to put these on, they probably had ten times the amount of submissions to scrutinize, and if no names sold, or only a few, they would lose serious money for thier effort. Now, what is suspect if anything, is the names with high reserves always seem like they are a click away from selling, next bid wins type of thing. Just seems like there is knowledge of reserves out there, like its a set of, or shill. But hey, "seems" is not proof, so take it for what it is. An auction. Its not an end user market at Namescon, but I have a feeling somebody will try and tell you otherwise.

1
•••
Does seem odd on the bidding right up to reserve. Although it does seem that reserves are set at the top of the reserve range.

•••
Some of the domains have gone for much less than what their worth is. I don't know how the selections were done.
