List of Drop Catchers?

Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone had any info on current expired domain drop catchers and their methods. I actually was one of the original people in the world using this tactic to obtain domains when the drop catchers used a *subscription* model, but after the majors switched to a *auction* model I saw where things were headed and gave up on expired domains so I dont need a general history, just a few tips on current things as far as who, if anyone still uses a subscription model.

To be more clear- what I am looking for is a breakdown of the current companies that offer a drop catching service and their method of payment (auction model vs. subscription)

I have not used anyone in a long time so maybe there are some new players around, but the ones I have used before are Snapnames (auction still?) and Pool (auction still?) Godaddy (auction?) and Enom (auction?)

Are all these services still auction based and does anyone know of any others which are subscription based? What I mean by subscription based is that "first come, first served" to "lock-up" the domain if the drop catcher is successful in aquiring the domain vs. getting into a bidding war with some shill bidder on Snapnames.

Thanks in advance.

They're auction based. None are true first come, first serve. In fact, several are downright cutthroat in lining bidders up against each other.

The dropcatchers are not dropcatching these days. They are auction houses working with partner registrars who push the domain into the auction system at least a month before it is supposed to drop.

This is called pre-release auctions. About two thirds of all expired domains are auctioned during pre-release. For instance if a moniker domain expires, it will be auctioned exclusively at snapnames a few weeks after expiry. If an enom domain expires it will be auctioned at namejet. A few registrars run their own expired domain auctions. For instance godaddy, name.com and dynadot does.

In other words, if your domain expires, the registrar will take control over it and will auction it off and that domain will never reach pending delete if somebody buys it during the pre release auction.

Notice that two thirds of all pending delete domains have already passed one auction and nobody wanted them. Basically most pending deletes are unwanted waste. Godaddy domains pass actually two auctions before pending delete. One is regular auction and if nobody buys it them, they go to buy now stage (godaddy closeouts).

You don't need list of dropcatchers. You need to follow both snapnames.com and namejet.com and those individual registrars that auction their own domains. snapnames pre release domains are not available anywhere else. Same for namejet pre release.

Since things are getting complicated I created the website you see in my signature. It lists nearly all expired pre release domains and all pending deletes.

If you don't like auctions, then search within godaddy closeouts because these are expired domains with cheap fixed price.

first come...

I've tried domainmonster.com several times. They are cheap and say, no cure no pay and say they do 'first come...'

the only trouble. They never actually caught the domain for me. No competition to the bog boys I presume...

Yes, I think that domainmonster.com open backorder service to
drive traffic/customers to their site

They never actually caught the domain for me, too
(I backordered hundreds domains at domainmonster)

And their success rate is 0

Why don't you build your site about your service ?
So we can order online !

I do have future plans to create a website, right now I would just like to develop customer base.

Good idea though!
