I have a set of domains (about 20) and they all have the same first word then followed by another word i.e MykeyWordStereos.com, MykeyWordipods.com etc ... what I would like to do is link all these sites together since they are all like a part of a set.. I would like to have a top navigation on each site of all the other sites visitors can go to that are part of the MykeyWord branding... but I'm scared that the seo's will penalize me for linking to my other websites which most are on the same host. Should I just forget it or is it possible to do and get away with? I really want to do this to offer my visitors to see other sites in this MykeyWord brand and I'm not trying to spam etc.. they do have affiliate links as the main content as they are shopping sites.

Are you considering a Bar like we have in blogger or the one we see on top of hotscripts.com?

If yes then the answer lies in that site's Pagerank and SERP's itself :)

Yes it is similar to how you have your other sites listed in the footer of hotscripts.com but I would like to have all the network of around 20 sites. Most of these sites have a very low page rank and some none as they are new. What I'm worried about is been snobbed by Google etc for linking to other sites I own as I have read this is not a good idea but things change so I'm unsure if this is still the case these days?

Yes that is what I was confirming. Your answer lies in the question itself.

You can ask 2 questions to yourself.

1) Is my own sites bar going to be similar like the one that I see on top of blogspot. EX: http://prodcut-offers.blogspot.com/ or similar like http://www.hotscripts.com that has its network of sites linked from that bar?

2) If the first answer is yes then are the sites that use this kind of system penalized in any kind? - I will answer the second one [No].

It depends, if all the sites are on the same hosting account then DO NOT LINK THEM TOGETHER google can detect this so easily and has banned entire C-Class networks in the past for doing it.

Do you have evidence for this? Why would there be any rules against linking sites together? This makes absolutely no sense, and sounds like the typical anti-Google fear mongering. To listen to some people, you can't put any links to anything, or you'll be banned. You shouldn't make statements like this without information to back it up.

yes they will be on same host... i was thinking of using nofollow, could this be seen as a shady practice?

-Nick-, it is similar to the footer of hotscripts.com as I said.. just a group of links i.e. link1 - link2 - link 3 etc

yes it is a tricky one, is it worth risking or should I just forget the whole thing... I have seen other sites links to other sites in network though!

I heard Matt Cutts (Google) one night on WebMaster Radio commenting on a network of sites linking to each other just like this case. From what I gathered its not a good idea no matter if your sites are on the same hosting network or not. If one site gets banned for any reason then they all might get the same treatment. If you decided to do it I would recommend using the rel=nofollow attribute. This is my personal opinion take it for what its worth.

Be a normal webmaster and forget about being SEO.

Just link your site from some of your sites and mention them as Other sites in network or something.

You might have seen this all across the internet. It will detect that is for sure. It will penalize you and ban you that is not for sure. Yes Class C IP's links are not worth anything but then you are not doing this for PR. You can use rel="nofollow"

Thanks.

thanks everyone, I have also discussed this with other friends as well and I think I will just go with the rel="nofollow"
