I have not found it using the search option so I thought its time to start such a thread.
I'm a big fan of .LINK domains though I was very sceptical to the so called new TLDs.
The reason why I like .LINK though no fan of the new TLDs are:

  • "link" has a natural universal relation to Internet. We use sentences like "send me the link". You can combine it with every keyword. And its logical - a link to the keyword.
  • it's very easy to remember. Its also new so it sounds interesting. It's just sexy ;)
  • in my opinion it sounds better than "web" as long you are not some working in the web industry
  • the word has got common in other languages. In Polish we also say link, in German too. Though for some languages it sounds better than others. For example in general german domains with a keyword and .link sound more natural and nicer than in Polish.
So far I have bought some. Maybe my best is notebooks.link. But jet sold none. Since the domain is at start I was interested in the sales. I really think .link will happen to be a big thing.

The past tense of LINK is LINKED.....so "link" hasn't served them well? Are you MAD:xf.rolleyes:

Their .com domain has served them better.

You don't associate "Micro" with Microsoft.
You don't associate "Goo" with Google.
You don't associate "Redd" with Reddit.
You don't associate "Name" with Namepros.
You don't associate "Alpha" with Alphabet.
You don't associate "Sam" with Samsung.
You don't associate "And" with Android.
You don't associate "Pay" with Paypal.
You don't associate "Air" with Airbnb.
You don't associate "Boo" with Booking.
You don't associate "Can" with Canon.
You don't associate "Berk" with Berkshire (Hathaway).
You don't associate "Net" with Netflix.
You don't associate "Face" with Facebook.
You don't EVEN associate "Twit" with Twitter, other than the people that are on there... ok that's not a 2 worder...

Pull your head out and smell the coffee seriously... just cause you take a substring of a company's 2 word name doesn't mean that they suddenly want to be, or are, known by that name.

You keep going on about Linkedin "endorsing" .link. It's not even a word that they use!!! They have https://linked.in and https://linkedin.com - they're all set, they don't need a .link which is quite frankly worth less than my toenail clippings - and less useful.

Did i say they needed a .link???? My first name is Richard of which the word "rich" happens to be a part of my name. "rich" is also considered a keyword like "link". Might i endorse a .rich extension? You better believe i would, especially if i were compensated in some manner, or it somehow added value to my name.....DUH!

btw, i do happen to own RICH.link:xf.wink:

In case anyone is interested.
I just happened upon .LINK in May when Andrew Allemann of DNW wrote about Yoni Belousov acquiring the relatively new gTLD from Frank Schilling of Uniregistry. So having been a business guy and entrepreneur all my life, i decided to look into it. I'm not your typical domainer, and while I'm not your typical contrarian I've been fascinated/intrigued by the new gTLD's after going to a friends very successful charity/website PingPong.gives four years ago. My friend and his neurologist partner raise over 100K a year via Ping Pong for patients diagnosed with diseases like Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. When you see the website that's behind PingPong.gives you'll understand why I was impressed.

Anyone following me and my domain critics can tell you that I liked both .online and .realty very similar to liking .LINK. However, like most businesses in the same industry, no two gTLD's are alike, nor are their individual circumstances.

The new owners of .LINK purchased it because they feel they're able to turn it around based on their industry knowledge and experience. Yoni Belousov, Vaughn Liley, and Jeff Gabriel are the brains behind the .LINK makeover and relaunch. As both a businessman and investor I've experienced turnarounds in other industries, the biggest of which was Health South now Encompass Health a 5 Billion dollar business today. I won't share with you how much money I made on the turnaround, but I will tell you that I'd accumulated 100,000 shares at an "average" cost of 50 cents a share.

Finally, i'll leave you with this.... Shit Happens and Turnarounds Happen, but I'm here for the TURNAROUND(y)

At least put your domains on Dan landers Richard.
Thanks....i know this should have been done by now, but unless i make it a priority it won't get done. This is why I'm still seeking a partner who could help manage me:xf.smile:

You know MAD....most people who know me would say I've been pretty successful in business and most important in LIFE. I'll be 75 years young a week from today and for the occasion I purchased the domain Birthday.link for a whopping $116. Considering that Birthday.com doesn't direct to a website and it isn't for sale for a million dollars plus, I'd say I got a pretty good deal.....what do you think?

When buying this domain MAD it dawned on me that EVERYONE in this world has a birthday. What was I thinking:xf.rolleyes:

Honestly I just want to be sucked up into the ground right now, never to be seen again.

That's where our conversation went, so I'll follow it down there.
