Hi everyone,

Happy to be here. I am constantly amazed at the limitless pool of unregistered domains out there.

I bought PhoenixNanny.com for less than $2 very recently, and have now listed it for sale on Sedo. I parked the domain with them like they asked me to do, and then I just went to the site and it was as if the site was hacked! Pop-up ominous messages. I immediately went back to GoDaddy and changed the Nameserver back to them.

Anyway, I chose to list PhoenixNanny.com at $740 on Sedo. I am curious if the community thinks this is a wise price point or not. I KNOW it is a good domain. Of course, time is money, which I guess always has to be considered in domaining. I am eager to flip that money back into myriad more domains.

Well, I hope I can get a little help here. Thanks in advance, and good luck everyone in your domaining today.

Nat

PS Just for context, I have never sold a domain before.

If you've never sold a domain before. Why do you think this is a good price point? Is there a lot of demand for Phoenix Nannies? Who do you think the end-user might be for this domain? Do you think they would have this amount of money, in order to take their business to the next level, plus hosting and development costs? If yes, then it's a good price point. If no, then it isn't.

Yes, I think a Phoenix-area nanny placement agency is the ideal end buyer. And I think the price is approximately right.

Phoenix is the 6th most populous city in the US. I don't know the state of the nanny industry these days, but I do know that there are nanny agencies there.

I think you need to research the Nanny industry in Phoenix, and start contacting potential customers for this domain. This will definitely speed up your selling this domain.

Well I live in Phoenix (well 40 miles away but work in Phoenix) and I can tell you that it is a shot in the dark. Phoenix is a huge city BUT not a rich city. Scottsdale is and Paradise Valley is and Fountain Hills is. Personally if I owned the domain I go $250 or less but I would email possible nannies not wait for one to find me for this niche.

The nannyjoynt.com (in Phoenix) could sure use a domain upgrade.
Your name just might lift them from page 2 to page 1 in the search results.

Thanks for the replies everyone.

I e-mailed several nanny services in/around Phoenix this afternoon, with a kind of sales e-mail I wrote up. It's not the best but I am glad to be out there, trying, and hopefully learning in the process.

The Nanny Joynt is an interesting name... Not sure I would trust them with my kids with a name like that one. I will reach out to them; thanks Chris.

That scary scenario is most likely due to the fact that you had "zero-click" turned on as a parking option with Sedo. If you opt-out of that (turn off zero-click) you shouldn't have that sketchy business with your parking page. You might give that a try. It freaked me out too the first time I saw that with a name I had parked with Sedo.

I think it's a good name, it's not amazing but it's good. You should defiantly be able to get $250-$500 from any Nanny service in Phoenix. Don't waste a huge amount of time on it, at that price point it will sell itself for someone who want's to be THE Phoenix Nanny. I think people forget how important it is for even small businesses to be category defining for a niche. No customer in the Phoenix area will ever forget their web address... and that's what this is all about; improving businesses by dominating the namespace.

So ask your $750 price, and then negotiate from there; good luck.

Yes! Thank you -- I am going to use that line in my sales e-mail. That is exactly the point I should be making to them.
