Thought we should share the trends in traffic for our domains owned to see how the market is developing.

For me personally, my .co.in domains still stay quite low (5-10 uniques a month) with the exception of one or two (like hin.co.in) which will end the month on about 140 uniques.

This is for purely parked domains with no other content or promotion. My questions are:

What indian domains do you own?
Have your domains increased in traffic lately?
Is there a difference between .co.in and .in (or any other indian combos)?
What do you predict will happen in the market?

(On a seperate note, I'm buying LLL .co.in or .in domains so if you have some traffic please let me know)

The Indian domain market is extremely popular. I have spent a lot of money investing in them for the future (see my sig for list) I currently get contacted and offers in the region of $xxx to low $x,xxx on some of mine but i am hanging out for a year or two maybe longer.

This statement

India is probably the biggest growing IT industry in the world at the moment. At present there is something like 38 million internet users in India and this is expected to grow to 100 million by 2007, according to the Internet & Online Association of India.

and this one regarding trends on sedo says it all really

Geographical niches are some of the most popular right now. Investors are increasingly specializing in regional tlds as well as “place names”. Emerging markets, recent liberalization and the development of more and more active websites built around TLDs such as .in and .cn, just to name a few, have convinced more than a few domainers to invest heavily in regions they know are growing.

After “missing the .com era”, Jeffrey Williams decided to invest heavily in .co.in domains near the end of last year. “I was fortunate enough to find out that at the same time .co.in names were also to be released to the general public but this was not widely known.” He wound up getting 90% of the domains he pre-registered and so far his investment of a few thousand dollars has increased nearly 10 fold. He believes, “without a doubt”, that deciding to specialize in a niche earned him much more than diversifying his investments. It had the added bonus of celebrity status among those in the Indian domain name market. “I have gained the reputation as being the .co.in “guy” something that would have been impossible with .com/.net etc as I was too late.”

The .co.in is more popular at the moment due to the .co part being more established but in time they will even out.

On the indiantimes.com there is a post which i was unable to find that mentions the rate and speed that the .in and .co.in extensions have been registered as one of the fasted extensions to cause a huge buzz since the times of the .com, .net boom.

Things look very rosey for the future for these extensions. The growth and investment in India is massive. The same is with China but the difference is English is a second language to the Indians.

I have listed my domains on sedo since september due to fabulous not taking my .co.in and .ins and i am extremely impressed with the uniques and visits to date.

I own over 70 excellent Indian domains and have them all listed at Sedo, although I haven't had an offer yet. My best is Intranet.co.in because it gets between 700 and 750 uniques/month. I plan to hold them at least a year and hopefully I'll walk away with a busload of cash.

I own around 40 in/co.in and have faith that they will pay off in time. I have some bad and a few which should be very good at some point. Am going to start renewing to streatch out the cost. NO way will I let any drop. They get some views and a trickle of clicks at Sedo but no offers yet.

I'm finding my LLL can receive no traffic at all. However I think this is to be expected. Keyword domains will always have traffic and attract people looking from around the world. My thought is that LLL can be appliacble to any language and suit companies who have cash to spend.

I'm holding on to them for as long as I can to allow the market to develop a little more and grow with the development of internet and access to the net in India.
