Could it be because they feature prominently in search results (unlike at Sedo)?

You could list both on Sedo and Afternic to get a good exposure.
Actually I think L-L-L.com are a good alternative to LLL.com.
Unlike some other extensions, L-L-L's are used by a lot of companies for their sites, just check it.

Also which is better in terms of resale l-l-l or l-ll or ll-l cant find any infos on the single dashed sales..

I've parked my L-L-L dot's at Voodoo.com until i get a few buyers and the good thing is i do get a click here and there which will help towards renew fees. Took a few weeks for the domains to settle in but a click is a click.
