Keyword phrase popularity: what numbers justify reg'ing an available .com?

Let me clarify: Say you are looking to reg some available keyword phrase names in .com If you use Word Tracker or some other keyword popularity tool, what is the lowest popularity number worth registering if the "keywordphrase".com is still available?

The number s sometimes tend to fluctuate from month to month depending on the current popularity of the phrase so keep that in mind as well.. something that's in vogue now may not be next month.

i used to buy only 1000 searches plus a day. i'd have to agree with ^. many of these names get nowhere near - maybe only 1 or 2 uniques (from #1 spot on searches).

instead i'm switching to either the generic .com or .net, or brandable names and letting a good idea/service do the work
