I'm going to be offering a new virus and computer tweaking service in my area.

I am looking for some free programs similar to System Mechanic just to clear out old files in the registry etc. It must be free because it will be left on the client's computer.

Spybot and Adaware are also very good

Lavasoft's adaware is good, like jstep said - but it only takes care of spyware stuff.

Google for HijackThis. You need to know what you're doing with this program, but it's great. We use it all the time in the Tech Services department where I work at Covenant College (I do work study - I'm a student there).

Best of all, it's free!

Adaware has already been mentioned. Norton is not free. I'm not sure what you mean by Registry.
