The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

that's a rare domain to find i think it will be worth at least U.S.$XXX if .com runs out and even .org are valued like that. Yes it happend to me before but it's not that valuable as yours and it's a long time ago like year 2000

It was defiantly worth to renew but have you tried to contact your registrar? They might still be able to get the domain but you might have to pay some kind of reactivation fee.

I have also lost a couple of domains in the past but now I always get mail bombed from the different registrars with "Remember to renew your domain!" messages...

Paddy,
Ironically enough, the 3 domains I bought from you recently were expired by Register Fly though I paid for their renewal 3 days before expiration. Unfortunately, the registrar did not receive payment until 8 days after the domains expired. Namepros member RegFly has intervened on my behalf to get my money refunded. It's a shame their payment processor (itinternet.com) is so godawful.

In my case, I have all auto-renews turned off, and I was shopping around trying to transfer it, but figured 3 days advance was plenty. There was no mention on the payment screen of allowing 11 days for payment processing.

Gonna try- thanks for the info. Just looked at his blog, but there doesnt seem to be any suitable place to post. Would you just post it as an comment in any of the articles?

Have you successfully got back a name at GD after it's been canceled?

This is strange. Now that im digging this case up, it seems that the name was offered for sale http://www.namepros.com/domains-for...art-no-reserve-4nn-net.html?highlight=4nn.net
... where freak127 appears to be the winner of the auction.

But im not sure if we did complete the transaction. Especially as i received a notice of cancellation from GoDaddy on 30th March 06.

Sorry to hear about that. The horror stories from RF just don't end. Hope you get them back.

just post a comment, it's a moderated comment btw so your post won't appear until Mr. Parson's secretary reads it and he replies within 24 hours or so, but good thing is he replies, if you want to get your domain and want to put some deal with it, he can still get it back for you, speaking from my experiences though with one of my domains.

the only sad part here if the domain is alrady backordered because of the time it took for the parked area. though still hoping for the best. and update us once you get it back :)

Presumably we wouldnt want to go knocking on his door too many times about this kinda thing. Do you think the name is worth it? You had mentioned possibly xxx in time, though when i offered it on these boards at $35, there were no takers. Is this a good time to cry wolf?.

I have never "forgotten" to renew, but I have several times "chosen" not to renew and regretted it.

This is the response from the support:

Thank you for contacting Customer Support.

Unfortunately, the domain name in question was registered by another party.
We apologize for the confusion in this matter.

Thank you,
xxx.

Big lesson, hope it doesnt happen to you all.

Just a quick update Paddy, didn't get them back, NP member Reg Fly helped me get a refund and some payment, so I didn't lose money, but I'd rather have them. Their payment processor is terrible, stay away (itinternet.com). :imho:

It does amuse me when I let a completely worthless domain drop, and it's snapped up by a warehouser. Only time will tell whether they're right or I am.

Never forgotten, per se.

Most of my domains are with NC and they give you 60 day renew emails, 30 day, 15 day, 7 day until you renew which is helpful, but can get annoying if you own a lot of domains that you want to let drop (Though you can disable the emailing i believe)

Though i did leave one of my 'better' domains (A PR4 that is earling a few dollars a day at Sedo) until the last minute. You get the email, you start thinking 'Oh i'll renew it later'. Then it happens again, and again. Then you get to the expiry date, remember, and hope that you registered/renewed it late at night the year before. (Thank God i normally register domains at night) :guilty:

Hopefully, i will never forget. But now ive said that im ready for it to happen some time soon ;)
