So, I know that you usually have about 7 days after your "renew domain name reminder" from Godaddy, but this week I forgot and missed the cut off point by a day.

I have called them up before and managed to get them to renew other names I forgot, but I got caught up this week so never had the chance to do the, "please can I have my domain name back" phone call to them...

I check today and it is magically listed in Godaddy Auctions!

Has this happened to anyone else?

So you're saying the domain has been removed from your account and the domain is in an expired domain auction..??

It's been my experience that U can renew a domain even after it is auctioned.

Or has the domain been already registered by someone else after it dropped from your account and the new owner has put the domain up for auction..?

Or maybe you're saying that godaddy themselves kept the domain without offering it in expired domain auction..??

Can U clarify..?

You can still renew the domain name by going to the Domain Manager > Domains > Expired Domains, but it'll cost you an exorbitant Redemption Package fee assessed by GoDaddy.

Or you could bid on it at auction. If the amount to buy it at auction goes over $100, then you could pay the Redemption Package fee instead.

You Need to Transfer Domain at that state
Go to Domain Lock settings and Turn off the Domain Lock
After that you will get an mail with Authorization Code
Now use the Authorization Code with the Registrar you like to Transfer
Thats it
Enjoy :)

Good idea.

For added clarity, under Expired Domains you'll select Lock > Off and then select Email Authorization to receive the authorization code and transfer the domain to another registrar.

It is not in my "expired domains" list. It is after the 7 days, so removed from acount (I think as I can't find it)?

But it is in the godaddy auctions.

So, I own it. I get the reminder, forget to renew, 7 days later Godaddy "own it" and now it's up for auction -

BIN - $1500.

:(

* Can't even find the - "pay $xxx amount to renew" option

Does the whois show your info? What day did it expire exactly? Depending on how long you waited, it may have already been auctioned, sold, and listed for sale by the new owner. If it's got a BIN of $1500 that's what it sounds like to me, unfortunately.

Yes, whois still my info. Looks like it was mine on the 27th July still, I lose it, "someone now owns it" (Godaddy?) and it is "live"/registered again for another year - 28th July 2015.

- But still has my info attached to the name on whois.

Could Godaddy have snatched it at the official drop and then listed it on auction? Is that even legal? (or ethical for that matter!)

Yeah, this all sounds very strange..

There are lots of very good domain names worth thousands that go to the expired auction list..

So like people say, you need to call and talk to a supervisor to get this figured out...

I thought there was another thread here where GoDaddy were not updating the whois records and the new owner has to do that themselves?
