I've been working on a project of mine for the last 20 years(was eighteen at the time). I finally decided to turn my ideas into a business, so I bought the name ussuper.com . I make "superconductors" as a side project. Hopefully, it'll pay off soon.

Tell me what you think of the name! Hope to develop my company site by mid February.

All comments are welcome!!!

Antonio

I went back and registered ussperconductor.com to shore-up any future traffic...

Good for you, Antonio! I hope your new business is a huge success.

I noticed American Semiconductors uses the domain amsuper.com. Will your business name be "US Superconductors"?

Yes, my official company name will be U.S. Superconductor.

I am currently trying to find a new company, individual or university that will perform tests on my latest sample(I lost my old source due to them developing their own superconductors--they did "blind" tests for me.

I am considering submitting it for review to DuPont (via their "Unsolicited Proposal" program) but would prefer to keep testing close to home.

Otherwise, I plan on going from a research-stage to a development-stage by February.

We'll see how things progress...

Superconductivity is one of the "future" technologies that will dramatically change things.

Jason,

You can PM if you like...Visited your website...You must do something other that domaining. PM me to let me know what details you need. My compounds are cuprate-based materials, as are the established 1-2-3, HgBa2Ca2Cu3O8+x, Tl2Ba2Ca2Cu3O10 and Bi2Sr2Ca2Cu3O10.

Let me know,
Antonio

Ron,

I contacted American Superconductor a couple of years ago about them testing samples...They only want to be the one to "confirm" the results that have already been done by others. They do not want to do the initial testing. So, I finally decided to create something of my own. I have my own lab(chemicals, kilns, etc...). The only thing I lack is a way to test them.

I made my first unique superconductor while attending Florida State University(FSU). I had the privilige of getting to know Dr. Louis Testardi(the first Director of Superconductor Research for FSU).

I'm at the stage that I need to start a business around the materials. Creating and registering my domain name ussuper.com is just one step in bringing it all together. I feel lucky to have been able to purchase the name.

Thanks for all the comments and support...

After working different jobs over the years to support my own research, I finally decided to take the plunge and create something for myself. Yes, it has taken 20 years for me to make that type of move, but better late than never. My claim to fame(haha) won't be that I'm the smartest fellow, just that I am persistent.

I wish everyone at NP that has the courage to have a dream, create something tangible and put your time and energy into it.

As I progress, I will keep NP members notified via the discussion board...You never know, name that contain "super" or "superconductor" in it will have some value.

I appreciate any comments or thoughts any of you may have...

when there are double letters in a name, it is easily to be mistyped.
So you may want also to register the typo usuperconductor.com as well.

Are you paying someone to test the material? Let me know.

Cache,

Thinks for the advice regarding the possible typo that I should register...And I enjoyed reviewing the info found on your website.

With regard to testing my sample(s)...my last testor provided the service for a nominal fee in exchange for me doing research for him. I try to stay on top of any news in the field of "superconductivity" by visiting the library at the University of South Florida located in Tampa, FL. I also find a lot of info via Google. I have found info on Google that isn't found in the University libraries. Especially info from India and China.

I am trying to work out some type of exchange with a company, university or individual for testing my current sample. I'll see how that goes, but I will keep you in mind. I will be fabricating some samples this upcoming week.

Thanks,
Antonio

It's always great to materialize dreams. While the domain name itself would not mean much to the general public, for your purpose you've found and registered the perfect name. I agree with Cache though, register USSuperconductor.com as well. It's always a good idea to cover more than one domain name.

Best of luck, keep us posted! :tu:

gisys(Mike),

I plan on keeping NP members posted of my progress over the next couple of months. I hope to have some good news by the end of March. I have been planning this move for the last 3-4 months.

I decided to purchase ussuper.com and ussuperconductor.com to make sure I got the name(s) before somebody else registered them. I truly believe the right name can speak volumes...That is why I love the concept behind domaining.

In case you didn't know, MIT has made available almost all of their course work for free online (and they are expanding it). http://ocw.mit.edu/index.html . It might help you out with more information.

Good luck in your venture, Antonio.

Another resource you can benefit from as well is UTEKCorp.com that enables companies of all sizes to acquire technologies from universities and research laboratories worldwide.

Maybe not for now but in the future, who knows...

I wish you the best of luck with your project. I would suggest getting the typo mentioned above along with any others you can think of. Lastly I would look into defense registrations to protect your brand. I would think for starters the .net, .info, .org, & .us

YesBrilliant & HBK216,

Thanks for the comments and suggestions...I will look into UtekCorp.com to see what they are about...Also, I have already registered some defensive versions of the main domain name ussuper.com, but will register a few more versions. American Superconductor only owns the .com & .cn version of theirs.

Will visit site later,
Antonio
