I'm so mad. I've been watching diving tonight, and the Chinese just HAPPEN to get 10's, and when the Canadian does an even BETTER dive, he gets 8.5's!

Are you kidding me? :yell:

The same thing happened with the women's gymnastics. You had a Chinese girl fall right onto her knees, and she wins over the American who did a near-perfect vault?

I know that NBC is probably more than a bit biased towards the US, but come on - none of their announcers' comments have agreed with the scoring. They have pointed out flaws in everyone's performances, and have given praise when it was merited. Everyone is getting screwed by these judges - not just the US.

The judges have a total bias in favor of the Chinese, and it makes me SICK

The Chinese are communist, does that really surprise you?
The Chinese government probaly has the judges' families hostage.

Well, I'm going to be stuck watching late-night infomercials about male enhancement and real estate riches while on NamePros.com.

My 1 week old has kept us awake late, and the Olympics have been great to have on since they're on until 2am! :D

I have watched so much of the Olympics that I probably could provide more insight than Bob Costas.

I saw that thing where the girl fell on her knees and scored higher. The announcers for NBC actually said that people might be rigged but then they were like "NO IT CAN'T BE THE JUDGES ARE COMPLETELY SEPERATED AND ARE NOT CHINESE" or something.

Still rigged imo.

Apparently the scoring system changed this year. So, if you perform an extremely difficult routine, but fall, you may still get a better score than someone who performs a less difficult routine perfectly.

Well i would rather see a perfect less difficult routine than a screwed up complicated one.

it all looks the same to me until someone falls, lol.

the olympics are usually a tad biased toward the host country, but the beijing 2008 olympics seems much more fraught with rigging and outright blasphemous scandals (except for maybe 72's munich massacre).

the chinese have done a good job shaking the world, from their fake fireworks and lip syncing at the opening ceremonies, to underage gymnasts.

Try putting Hulu.com on, and watch the first season of Hill Street Blues, or maybe a movie like Master and Commander. I just finished watching the first - and only - season of Firefly, it was a pretty good SF series.

yeah I agree, I too was watching the diving and the annoncers were like, " I think that should probably get about an 8" and then the score was like a 9.5. I think that's a bit rediculous. Stupid China.

Well China has more gold medals than the next two - the US and Great Britain combined. They always seem to win gold (45) and rarely silver (14). However, when you look at other countries, the ratio is always much closer. I just don't see how one nation - even with China's size - can win 20 more gold medals than anyone else.

Because there are sports like ping-pong and badminton(if that's how you spell it?).

I also hate watching the boxing in the Olympics because it is so whack. They way most of these countries box is just out there and ridiculous.

I've also seen some things that favoured China, like once the Chineses coach was next to the Gymnast giving her instructions and we could clearly hear it on TV. That is not allowed.

It should be mentioned that China spent $40 billion in these Olympics of which about $7 billion went to their Olympic comitee in order to prime their athletes to make sure that China came out victorious in the Gold medal count.

From now on it will be extremely dificult to surpass China in the Olympics as they have a lot of money to spend in sport, trying to be the best.

It's odd the choices they have for sports.... bowling is much more popular in the U.S. than, say, Beach Volleyball, and I would say much more popular than table tennis, or the competitive trampoline jumping, etc.

Is golfing an Olympic event? I can't remember.

If water polo is one, golfing should be considered one. ;)

Honestly .... I'm a huge fan and I had to turn it off the other night. The scoring was outragious. I just turned it off.

Diving, Gymnastics and Boxing ..... too obvious!

Sorry but in diving the Chinese where clearly better.

But there diffently some mistakes on the gymnastics judgeing

Agree about the diving. The Chinese were better (and I'm Canadian). The judging in boxing (what's new) and gymnastics has been iffy, to say the least. It's like figure skating all over again.

As far as some of the sports...I still don't understand why golf isn't a summer games sport. There must be enough countries playing golf to qualify.

Guys, just wait until London in 2012, you will not see a single Chinese get something other than a bronze medal...:)

Cheers

Frankly, I'm ready for the whole thing to be over. I miss Jay Leno and Conan.
