.JOBS Extension Official Thread
:bingo:

Have any of you heard of the .JOBS extension? These extensions were created specifically for new hire agencies/departments that recruit pre-screened applicants. In fact, in order to achieve maximum SEO value, you must run an actual " Career Website" in order to recieve search engine placement.

*Please share any knowledge that you may have in both investing and selling these type of domains.

Here is one registrar that provides these domain registrations:

1. WhoNami.com ($114.00)

2. Godaddy.com ($119.00)

Your thoughts.................

A few problems:
  • only a few registrars offer the extension, so it's got little exposure - most people don't even know it exists.
  • expensive prices
  • corporations don't want to dilute their brand in yet another extension and confuse users with an odd extension
It's probably safe to say that the extension has been stagnant at best. I would guess the registry is not even making a profit. It's nearly as useful as .tel, in one word: avoid :)

I would rather go with "keyword"jobs.com than go for one of these names.

.jobs Domain Name Rules

Registrations must be "yourcompanyname", where "yourcompanyname" is either: (a) the legal trade name of the employer (minus identifiers such as "the" or "inc" or "gmbh" etc.); (b) a name by which the employer is commonly known; or (c) contains either (a) or (b).

For example: The Hewlett-Packard Development Company LP may request:
Hewlett-Packard.jobs
HewlettPackard.jobs
HPsystems.jobs
HP-financial.jobs
HPprogramming.jobs

The domain can not be on one of the reserved lists, such as ICANN's reserved list, occupational (e.g., nursing.jobs, accounting.jobs) and industry (e.g., retail.jobs, manufacturing.jobs, recruiting.jobs) identifiers, geographic names (such as cities, regions, zip codes, etc.), profane words (either by themselves or in combination, such as "blow") and others (such as generic terms). .jobs will maintain these reserved lists and your requested domain name will be checked against them.

Usage Restrictions

Websites at .jobs domains may only be used to post information about your company, such as your own job postings, company culture, company information, etc.
Third party job postings (i.e., job boards) are not allowed.
Non-HR-related uses are not allowed.
The registrant is responsible for the use of the domain, including to a licensed third party.

.jobs will enforce the use restrictions and will shut down and, if necessary, cancel a registration if the registrant does not comply.

.jobs is a highly restrictive tld.

.jobs is not suitable for domainers. :imho:
