This may sound silly however this is my first time dealing via sedo coz normally i deal either via email(endusers) using escrow.com or forums.

My question is are there any flaws in sedo auction or issit completely safe?
As in the procedures after the winning bidder won the auction n transfer of funds n domain. Will i ever lose my domain name n not get any funds or any complicated matters? last offer is on 08/23/08 so when will the auction end? Need your opinions about sedo before i proceed.

From what I hear, SEDO is completely safe.

sedo is quite safe, however, sometimes the buyer does not pay. But you do not lose anything when buyers quit.

you are welcomed.

Yes, hurley4540 is right, sometimes when the buyer quit, you will feel really disappointed for the lost time and joy.

True.. but i do have other buyers so i guess its not a problem. If not i just keep the domain since i am developing it.

yep sedo is safe apart from the risk the buyer may not pay but then you will just keep the domain

well done on the impressive sale

Slow, Very Safe but don't count your money until it's in your bank, buyers don't always pay and you'll be left in the dark for ages. Your domain will be safe until the money is paid.

Good luck, nice amount :)

If you start an auction - it will end August 30th

yeah SEDO is pretty safe

one small thing though , usually you will need to push the domain to the SEDO agent after SEDO receives the money

sometimes though SEDO asks that you transfer the domain yourself to the buyer's registrar ... if this happens it is a better idea to ask you SEDO agent to do it the other way

if you transfer it yourself , there is a small chance for the "I did not receive the domain" scam which can also occur at Escrow.com

theoretically it will finally be cleared out (either on SEDO or Escrow.com) but it surely does not worth the risk/hassle on SEDO (which has the alternative method also)

Hi,

SEDO rep will not ask you to transfer the domain until SEDO has received the funds from the Buyer.

Really very little to worry about.

also , if you are planning to send it to auction , check the hour the offer was sent ...

if you do send it to auction , the auction will end exactly 7 days after the offer was send (regardless of the time that you sent it to auction)

if the time is something like 06:00 in the morning for the US (especially on a Sunday or something) , then there is a big chance that the auction will have rather low attendance when it ends

(the above though depends on the domain , the TLD and your geographical target market)

Perhaps there might be some risk in situations where the funds transferred to Sedo were transferred from another stolen account or other fraudulent means, and discovered after the transfer. That is why there are laws and lawyers (ianal).

I have had two recent scammers try to get me to use Sedo to sell them a domain (and I know for sure that they are scammers). They were larger transactions, so I was insisting on escrow.com or moniker.com. My guess is that they intended to pay Sedo with PayPal and then do a chargeback later. I am not sure what safeguards Sedo has against that, and as seller what repercussions that might have.

For your transaction, I might phone Sedo and start a dialog about the transaction. Let them know about it and any concerns you have. It's not a giant commission for them, but for 10% of 16K, they are likely to at least give you some attention.

Sedo is probably the safest (and slowest) domain escrow service. No worries other than non-paying bidders.
