Anyone had any experience with sedo auctions? Because I have just created a free account, and I'm considering putting one of my domains on there.

Which is better? "Make an Offer" or "Buy It Now Price" or "Auction"?

If an auction, is a long auction (7 days) or a short one (3 days) better? And should I have a reserve? Or will the lack of reserve make people bid more?

Thanks,

You have to receive an offer first, before you have the option to send a domain to auction at Sedo. (unless you are working with a broker)

Pricing is up to you, but it may not hurt to try a mix of some domains buy it now, some make offer etc.

the best option is to auction

I put most of my names as "make an offer", also 7 days is better than 3- more people to possibly find out about the auction...

As already said, you can only send a name to auction after your receive an offer. You can't have a reserve price either, as far as I know.

I have most of my names with the "Make Offer with Desired Price" option. The desired price is like a BIN, but you are not really forced to accept it. I've found that you can reduce the number of low-ball offers if you have a price reference for your name. I also believe that most potential buyers feel more comfortable when they have an idea of your price expectations. Now, it can have some negative aspects too, cause you may miss a really high offer if you state a price.

On occasion really good names with a low initial offer will get bid up but probably 80-90% of the time the initial offer is the only one. So before taking an offer to auction, one needs to be willing to accept that offer. While placing a price does cap the upside I have found far more interest (offer page views) in domains priced under $1000. There is additional interest if you price under $300 and the name is a good one. But the market is soft. I have a one-word domain priced at $299 (fixed price) with more than 200 offer page views in the last month but so far noone has picked it up.
