So, I owned a domain just over a year ago, I developed it and used it for a while but eventually ended the project. During the usage time I went ahead and registered the .net and .info to go with it, so I owned:

example.com - expired feb 09
example.net - expired april 09
example.info - expired may 09

So, the .com dropped and guess what happened? A company registered it to try and sell it back to me, EVEN though I was the one that dropped. After replying to their email with a pleasent "piss off" they must have dropped it within the 5 days, so then another company like theirs picked it up.

I've now been offered my domain, that I dropped purposefully 3 times, the first time for $200, then $199 and just now I've been offered it for $99.

So, if you're one of these companies, do your research. I'm sure the current company will drop it in a few days, then it'll get registered by another. Never ending process.

Reminds me of my situation. I had registered a .net waiting for the .com to drop a few months later. Before the .com dropped i got an email from a company telling me how they can get the name for me for $200.00 I told them that i was not interested in the name anymore ( but i lied ) :D The name dropped and i was able to get it for reg fee :)
