Looking at the DNJournal latest sales there are some domains that I am just amazed by the sale prices again and again.
What I also see quite often is a WORSE variation of domains that I actually own going for astronomical prices. For instance, I'll see in DNJournal a sale for a domain like: brandnewwidgets.com for $13,000 and I may own newwidgets.com or even widgets.com and can't get $500 for the names I own (These are just examples and do not represent actual sales or domains I own).
Is it a good idea to try to contact the new buyer and say, for example, "Look I saw you buy brandnewwidgets.com for $13,000. I am the owner of newwidgets.com, which is a better domain than the one you purchased, so how about buying my domain for half the price you paid for the one you bought?" Or something along those lines?
What are all your thoughts on this?
