while scanning available domains, I regularly find domains that meet the following criteria

- pronouncable
- 5L or 6L, no dashes, no numeric
- sometimes 4 char domains mixing numeric and letters
- decent estibot appraisal (100$ or more)
- Often brandable, but probably not good enough for BB (my own guess)
- available for registration (at least a few hours)

I am wondering if it's realistic to start a business buying and flipping them right away.

A finder's fee system would be preferred, but it seems many people don't respect the rules. May be someone has a positive experience and tips for working on finder's fee.

I am a complete beginner in domaining.

Why would somebody pay a finder's fee to a complete beginner?

And stuff like this - "sometimes 4 char domains mixing numeric and letters", those are horrible:

yr3b.com, endless reg fee possibilities

What you posted, I don't see much hope for but try it out and see if it works.

These names are available for a reason: there is no scarcity.
Who are you going to flip to ? Domainers ?
Plenty of seasoned domainers are already competing against you.
Why not give a few examples.

I commend you for asking before you start doing this, because, in my opinion, this "business model" is the best formula to do at least the following:

1. Completely waste your money.

2. Annoy people to whom you offer the names.

3. Waste time that you should be employing in learning what works and what doesn't.

What does him being a beginner have to do with anyone paying a finders fee to him? Seems really disrespectful and like you are just trying to put him down.

As far as the finders fee goes I wouldn't bet on it, not because it isn't a good idea, or because you're "new", but because some people tend to just suck and have no honor, or any clue of what it means to be a community.

As far as picking the right domains goes, you always have to think of the brandability, as well as the potential audiences it compares to, a good way to gauge demand is to use googles KWP to see and see how many search results there are, while it is not fool proof, it is a fairly accurate way to gauge potential demand for it, and last but not least compare it to other similar ones on the market, pick only the cream of the crop. If you aren't 90% positive you should buy it, don't.

Are you serious? What part of complete beginner are you not grasping? Would you pay some guide to take you to the top of some mountain, when they never climbed the mountain themselves? Or would you most likely pay a guide that has some actual experience with doing so?

If at the top of that mountain I found treasure, yes.

When you and the guide tumble down the mountain from lack of experience, you will find no treasure. In a nutshell, to pay for no experience is stupid.

Found plenty of treasure today friend, perhaps you already fell from that mountain. Scared to try and climb it again I think.

haha, what?

There are plenty of people who have posted available names in the brandable niche for free for close to a decade. That is the meaning of community, someone else already tried posting names demanding a finders fee, there are many members here for over 10 years who have posted a lot of names available, I guess @sdsinc and hundreds of others have a lot of back fees to collect on.

Not much encouragement to continue in this direction. So let's close the subject

Thanks to all anyhow
