This might be a dumb question. Sorry, but I'm new to all this.

I've had a handful of domains on hand that I bought for 12 bucks apiece on Godaddy brand-spanking new. Estibot says one of them (newbigbang.com) is valued at $900, and the others are a bit less.

So:

1) Will anyone pay for these domains?

2) Can I turn this into a business... buying catchy new domains that are valued high by Estibot.

Thanks in advance.

You are most welcome. Feel free to ask me anything any time you want, in a thread or PM.

As for selling it to the right buyer, that usually means research. Depending on what you have that you are trying to sell, you will want to research and try to find good candidates for the name. Trying to find buyers isn't easy. Sometimes you can list them for sale on Sedo, Flippa, GoDaddy auctions, etc., but that means that you are hoping the right buyer looks there at the right time.

If you have a name that you think will be good for a certain type of business, then you can seek them out and get in touch with them. Let them know what you have available, why it would be good for them, what you are seeking as far as price, etc. Just always be nice, polite, professional and try as best as you can to make your message sound nice and well thought out. If you are professional in your approach, then there's a better chance they will respond favorably.

In my experience, the better you present yourself and what you are selling then the better the chance you have for a successful sale. You might be some small time domain seller, but act like you are a professional and not an beginner.

Hold the domains, someone down the line will surely pay or start marketing names.

Welcome to Namepros. People advising you here(almost all) have done the same thing when they stepped in domain games and they are making good profits now!. So you are going very normal. I say reading namepros threads (all section, not only newbie) and waiting some more time to spend real dollars in domain names will be worthwhile. regarding estibot; better you ignore that now or use it to check broad match, exact match, availability, related sales only but only superficially. Also avoid flippa appraisals too. Dashes, nTLDS, long names should not be in your basket for now. Later when you understand the ins and outs of damain name game and how stuffs work here you can do whatever you want.
Keep up the spirit. Domaining is so much fun.

There've been offers in the past for apexe.com. Over $300, even, but this was many years ago. Got audiocuts.com early on but nothing was ever done with it; too busy. :)

@arjun29 Thanks for the encouragement and advice! Yes I will avoid Estibot like the plague now.
