Is there any added value to having tld variants of a short domain?

I bought asow.com and then asow.co.uk, asow.net, asow.tv as well because I was going to build on it. (As Seen on the Web trending blog).

I will never be able to build that now so have sought to sell a lot of my domains. But the few people I've contacted don't want the group, only the .com version.

Is there more value to be had by owning all the good variants? Should I hold out and wait patiently for a different buyer with a better offer for everything? Or do people not want variants?

I also bought q29.com, q29.net etc. after buying q29.co.uk elsewhere. I've done this for nearly all my domains, but now I am closing shop, people only seem to want one domain from any group.

Any insights?
Thanks
Mike

In general, no. Unless you are the end user and you are building a brand, then you will do defensive registrations. Also, if you are a large enterprise like Google or Facebook you will want to register matching ccTLDs of your brand to set up localized versions of your websites.

For resale purpose, there is no upside imho. More likely, a waste of reg fees.
