Good day.

I was wondering if it is possible to remove the transfer lock on a domain if I want to sell it off badly. A 60 days transfer lock doesn't make sense if all I want to do is to flip domains within days.

So for example, I have a domain with a transfer lock until Feb next year. Is there anyway I can remove the lock especially if I want to sell it to a buyer on 4.cn please advise thanks!

You cannot sell on 4.cn with a domain that is younger than 75 days.

I explain in more detail about 4.cn buying and selling and setting up an account here

Hi Howie,

I read your post and understood the restrictions of the domain age. I am just asking if my domain has a transfer lock until Feb 2016, due to a registrar change, and I want to sell it on 4.cn, is it possible?

By the way, thank you for the great post on 4.cn!

60 day lock after reg or transfer is ICANN rule, no way to get around it.
But you can push domains within the same registrar in that window.

60 days lock after an inter-registrar transfer is not a mandatory ICANN rule, from my interpretation.
The Registrar of Record may deny a transfer request only in the following specific instances:
  1. Evidence of fraud
  2. UDRP action
  3. Court order by a court of competent jurisdiction
  4. Reasonable dispute over the identity of the Registered Name Holder or Administrative Contact
  5. No payment for previous registration period (including credit card charge-backs) if the domain name is past its expiration date or for previous or current registration periods if the domain name has not yet expired. In all such cases, however, the domain name must be put into "Registrar Hold" status by the Registrar of Record prior to the denial of transfer.
  6. Express objection to the transfer by the authorized Transfer Contact. Objection could take the form of specific request (either by paper or electronic means) by the authorized Transfer Contact to deny a particular transfer request, or a general objection to all transfer requests received by the Registrar, either temporarily or indefinitely. In all cases, the objection must be provided with the express and informed consent of the authorized Transfer Contact on an opt-in basis and upon request by the authorized Transfer Contact, the Registrar must remove the lock or provide a reasonably accessible method for the authorized Transfer Contact to remove the lock within five (5) calendar days
  7. The transfer was requested within 60 days of the creation date as shown in the registry Whois record for the domain name.
  8. A domain name is within 60 days (or a lesser period to be determined) after being transferred (apart from being transferred back to the original Registrar in cases where both Registrars so agree and/or where a decision in the dispute resolution process so directs). "Transferred" shall only mean that an inter-registrar transfer has occurred in accordance with the procedures of this policy.

I think Uniregistry only deny a transfer request lesser than the 60 days after being transferred. Anyone tried?

A 60 days transfer lock after domain registration can't be removed...

There is unfortunately no way around it. I try to do my ftr wtih Godaddy as most end users will know Godaddy and have an account there already. Non domain savvy buyers will think the 60 day transfer rule is some scam I made up, and even copy pasting the icann regulations link does not help in some cases. It is simply too suspect to them that they can not have the domain where they want and I would think the same to be honest.

There is a way around it, you have to get it manually reviewed by emailing [email protected] and beg for them to be in a good mood that day.

The 60 day rule has been there for a while with some registrars.

If you want to avoid this, pushing it within the same registrar might help, but Im certain there is a limit too on how many times a domain can be pushed around within certain period.
