I can't recall one. You might want to make one. Of course it will need to be an 'Official' Long Tail Thread!! ;)

I have some. Here's one for 'the thread' -

I'm sure i've got longer somewhere, but

NarcissisticPersonalityDisorder.org

TeaLightTableLamps.com

WashingUpGloves.com

VintagePinUpPosters.com

DoubleSidedCoin.com

come to mind.

What search numbers do people go for on these names, and what's your earnings/ traffic been like on them?

Low numbers (less than 1000 searches a month) can still work out pretty well, in my experience

domain learning is about to pick up the good ones, because there are fewer good ones than bad ones. Since there are too many bad ones, there is no pointing picking bad ones.

I like long tail. Very targeted. Higher RPC usually. Very high CTR if you can match the domain with keywords that have good advertiser depth.

There is rumor from last year that G might take a machete and lop off the long tail and not monetize it anymore. Who knows? Even still they have value. If it is a bang-on domain....you can call an advertiser and do a deal . You don't need the search engines.....just enough good traffic to make it worth the advertiser's time.

Very interesting thread, thanks

My worst is getsomeretailtherapy.com and .co.uk (what was I thinking!)

With info's being so cheap at the moment, I picked up a few expired names last week to tryout longtail development (not developed yet) -

BasementWaterproofing.info
GliderChair.info
GlobalMap.info

Cheers, Jon

An exact match search for the two above both have over 75 auctions listed on Ebay. If you are not already adding Ebay to your pages it would be worth checking out.

In our experience adding Ebay partner network listings to pages does not reduce ADsense clicks.

I would call these "phrase" domains when they go longer than 4 words. I generally don't go for anything longer than 3 words, but do have a few exceptions:

Chocolate Is Good For You .com
Find Me A Garage Sale .com
Florida Keys Tour Guide .com
How To Make Videos .info
I Do Wedding Photography .us
I Need A Sponsor.com
The Star Spangled Banner.info

I have a couple thousand domains, and the above are the only ones more than three words that I could find. Long to me isn't necessarily the number of characters, but the number of words.

There are generally two types of long domains. One is phrases like the above that might get types ins or look good as a web name. The second is what I'd call keyword salting where a bunch of keywords are put together in hopes of SEO improvement. I guess maybe a third mostly unmarketable type would be just plain weird "collector" domains like 22222222222222222222222.com or iclaimthisisthelongestdomainnameever.com

I never thought of 3 keyword domains as long-tailed.

I guess I learned something today ?
