Is there a free forum that allows advertising?

phpbb and simplemachines.org and such... do they allow me to sell ads on my forum?

I wouldn't see why they could tell you that you couldn't as long as their link is still at the bottom.

I can only speak for phpBB. The licence can be found here: http://www.phpbb.com/downloads/license/ and is a GNU GPL.

You can sell ads on your forum is the simple answer.

I would suggest reading through the GNU GPL and understand it because it is applied to a lot of open source free programs. It's a good thing to know and understand. There is a FAQ that can answer a lot of questions.

yes, you can sell ads, even if you got these forum software for free, and as long as you don't remove their footer links.

phpBB-3 would be great, also SMF (Simple Machine Forums).. They're both Free
