Is the Sedo 'Price Suggestion' accurate?

When you list a domain on Sedo, they suggest a price. Does anyone know how they come up with the price? Many domains are sold through Sedo. I would assume it isn't a random stab in the dark. But is there any way to tell how accurate it is. Thanks for any input.

If the domain sells at the suggested price it means that it was too cheap.

I would never go with any automated appraisal/price suggestion.Probably the same system Sedo use for their "paid" auto appraisals with a tweak or two.

Look at the market for the last 12 months for a better idea of what is selling for what.I can tell you it is quite a lot less now then it was 12 months ago!

Then I was obviously wrong in my assessment of the pricing system, it is extremely accurate, 3 lots of sex would have to be at least $13K and not a penny less. :p

The sedo price suggestion matters only if you think your domain is more than 10K but Sedo thinks it is less. Sadly you can't place a price above 10K if Sedo thinks the domain is below 10k.

Sedo's price suggestion tool actually valued a .info (few months old) at $2,995 and the .com version (11 years old) at $1,995.

Wonder if the .net and .org are more or less than the .info!

It's a joke.

Sedo seems to value .info quite strongly-why, I don't know?!

Automated appraisals are good for one thing.

To keep you coming back for more!!

What if someone new to the industry got an appraisal from Sedo for $5, and then an appraisal of $500 from Godaddy for the same name.

Where do you think they would list?

It's all a numbers game IMO.

Would there ever be an algoritm to appraise domainnames?
I think not, the actual value depends on many factors and in the
end..... what a person is willing to pay for it.

But why not use a good appraisal in your sale pitch for your benefit?
A good appraisel is always better dan none. People do like every bit
of positive information about your domain name compare to nothing at all!

I recently hand reg'd 4 domains

2 for $1, 1 for $1.99, 1 for $0.00 - that's a total of $3.99 spent on the 4

The combined price suggestion of the 4 domains is $20,996 - lol
