How accurate and reliable is Sedo's Price Suggestion Tool?

I am just curious because I have failed to acknowledge its existence. I used it to suggest a value for a domain this morning and the value I found to be rather higher than I would have expected it to be.

Does it over or under value domains?

Should it be taken into consideration?

I've noticed that Sedo's price suggestion is very inaccurate. Sometimes it gives value which is ridiculously higher than it's real worth, and sometimes it will give you a very low value for a domain which has obvious value.

I actually don't take their price suggestions seriously at all.

Isn't there a similar thread already ?
Anyway, like all automated appraisal tools they are for entertainment purposes only.

Yep, forget all automatic tools.
Simple as that.

Sedo's price suggestion tool is strictly for S&G.

Could the so-called "wisdom of crowds"* be applied to automatic tools?
If you took the mean/median value of all automatic tools, would that get you any closer?
(Sure, they could easily all be way off in the same direction, but that would be less likely than with just one tool).

Edit: I just gave a free idea for a new "automated valuation tool consolidator" website. After you have it running, I want my perpetual 10%! :D

*Have a group of people estimate/evaluate something and the mean/median value usually ends up being pretty close
