PR 2 is nothing special but if you like the name just buy it.

It all depends on what you're trying to do with the dropped PR2 domain. Are you trying to use it for redirect traffic, parked page or build out a site?.

Either way, only you can make the call on it since we don't know what you're intentions are!.

Thank you for the reply!
I just wish that i can develop a simple site with it and sell it later.

I agree that PR 2 is nothing special. I certainly wouldn't buy a domain merely because of it's current PR which it will probably lose anyway.

You are chasing yesterday's news.

I bought several like this 4-5 years ago. As soon as I got them I looked them up at archive.org to see what their former content looked like. I then immediately published a 1-2 page site with similar content. About half kept the PR and one has actually increased from PR3 to PR4 with no more work on my part.

yes, if PR is valid it's definitely worth it. What do I usually do: check if the site is in webarchive or in any search engine's index. Then I try to recover all the content I can and put my adsense adds on it.

So, if i put some original contents back on the site then i won't loose the PR , is it ?

There are no guarantees, but don't buy domains because they have PR with the intent of parking them. If you want any hope of keeping PR, you need a site up.

Take any domain in your profile and put up relevant original content, get a few backlinks and PR2 will be yours.

If you don't have a plan for the domain don't pick it up. Not all PR domains are created equal either. Take a look at the quantity and quality of backlinks.

There are plans and then there are plans. In my case I develop many small websites and find I can almost always write a page or two of content for a site with existing PR that stays on topic for the original site but which also leads into a paragraph of new content related to one of my sites. That way I get a nice on theme in-text link with carefully chosen anchor text to my site. My way of buying links :)

I understand that PR is mostly based on links but G must also weight the links heavily for quality. I mentioned upthread one of the sites moved from PR3 to PR4. I am almost certain that is the result of a single backlink. It looks to me like the backlinks being sold in units of 100's or 1,000's must add almost nothing to PR.
