I see tons of people who two Paypal accounts. Is it legal to have that?

I probably give up $1,000+ per month in Paypal fees, so it could save me a fortune if I could legally open up another account (Personal Account).

The only restriction from paypal is that you have a seperate bank account for each paypal account but there is limit on personal accounts so You cant make a lot of payments to the personal account imo

That's not the issue. I sell lots of domain names and hate having to say "buyer adds 3.9% to cover Paypal fees." Sometimes I absorb the fees myself.

I want to open a Personal Account (I have Premier right now).

How many transactions can I do on a Personal Account?

you can have up to two accounts, one personal and one premier/business.

there are no restrictions on the number of transactions on a personal account, as long as you don't go over the receiving limits ($500/month i think).

$500 per month is lower than I usually do; but I guess I can have the open until my cap is reached.

Thanks a lot for the info guys.

Get them to use Mass Pay ($1 fee).

Most buyers don't know how to do it - and even I don't really.

Maybe I should give them step-by-step instructions. Could someone PM me? :)

No Multiple Accounts. Should you register for more than one Personal Account, PayPal reserves the right to terminate all of your accounts and will restrict you from the system going forward. Users may register and hold one Personal Account and either one Premier or one Business Account.

Shockie was right. You'll just have to have separate bank accounts linked to them too. That shouldn't be that big of a deal, though, since you shouldn't mix your personal and business finances anyway.

:hi:

You have to think this through to see if it's worth it.

Transactions are fee free only if you:

"Receive payments funded by PayPal Balance, PayPal Instant Transfer or PayPal eCheck"

Your buyers may not like that limitation.
----

If you sell on eBay, your Buyer cannot use a credit or debit card
or PayPal Buyer Credit:

" Personal accounts may not receive payments funded by credit card, debit card or Buyer Credit for eBay or eBay Express transactions without upgrading to Premier or Business accounts."
-----

If you sell elsewhere, your Buyer can use a credit card or debit card but your Seller fees are higher and you are limited to just 5 such transactions in one year:

"4.9% + $0.30 USD (limit of 5 transactions per 12 month period)** for domestic or U.S. transactions"

Right, I will have one account strictly for Paypal balance payments (buyer adds no fee) and one for CC payments (buyer adds fee)

Yes, that's the way to do it.

Last time i checked, it was against Paypals acceptable use policy to add a "surcharge" for accepting money via paypal, this also includes charging the buyer any fees YOU are responsible for.

Yep

and if someone complains to paypal that you added or accepted a surcharge. They can be refunded a whole transaction.

Seems everyone tries to add those fees and maybe paypal doesn't notice or doesn't care until someone complains but it's safer just to figure that into a selling price.

paypal
4.7 No Surcharges. You agree that you will not impose a surcharge or any other fee for accepting PayPal as a payment method. You may charge a handling fee in connection with the sale of goods or services, as long as the handling fee does not operate as a surcharge and is not higher than the handling fee you charge for non-PayPal transactions.

Don't get caught or the least that'll happen is you'll still pay.

paypal
4.8 No Splitting Payments. You may not split payments between a Personal Account and a Premier or Business Account by directing buyers paying with a credit card to send payments to your Premier or Business Account, and buyers paying with their Balance or bank account to send payments to your Personal Account. If you do so, we will charge you the Fees that would have applied to a Business or Premier Account.

I very rarely add paypal fees. I personally think it makes you look unprofessional. Just ask enough to pay the fees. Cost of doing business.

If a transaction is going to be large (say, $1500+), I just insist it go through escrow and they pay or split the escrow fee. Because the fee is hidden in the escrow charge, it turns out being the same thing in the end with the added benefit of third party security.
