Invalid Whois information at GoDaddy

Anyone ever been caught with invalid whois info? I did. Apparently the TOS says there is $10 fee for this problem. Somebody made a complaint about one of my domains. I had a placed 1234567890 in the phone number field.

I quickly signed up for one of those voice mail services. I didn't want to get hit on my other domains.

Has this ever happened to anyone? I have owned domains for at least 8 years and never had this issue.

Although it hasn't happened to me, it does happen quite frequently. I am a former godaddy employee and get phone calls related to this often. The other issue, is sometimes someone is trying to get a hold of you to make an offer - its frustrating when information is not kept accurate and will report it, so that you are forced to leave a valid number.

I'm on the other side. I urgently want to contact a person that owns a domain that i used to own and due to a failure (dead email, expired the domain) i lost it. The owner has a FAKE email that is not working and bouncing back. The phone number is his office number which would be fine, but the person is currently "in another country" (Pakistan as far as i know), and his partner cannot give ANY information how to contact him. Obviously i have reported this to ICANN. I want to buy that domain back, whatever it costs.

To sum it up: It is your duty to always have updated REAL information in the whois.

yes they charged me.

all of other info is accurate. there was no attempt to contact via email. oh well!

Well godaddy still sucks really.
Adam Dicker is going to have a lot to do until gd can be considered a serious and safe registrar by professional domainers... if that ever happens

They recently sent me a somewhat Threatening email about using false whois ... Which I told them wasn't true. Apparently , They assigned me a Rep who decided they would call me. Well - If they would have acted professionally and introduced themselves first thing ... I wouldn't have hung up on them several times or told them they had the wrong number I pay for my phone and hate telemarketers - And anyone calling me up acting like they've known me all my life (When I know they don't know me) generally get these responses .... and many times much worse.

I really dislike GoDaddy calling me to peddle their smut. Oh well, another couple hundred domains to transfer out, and that will end, too.

I pay for my phone and hate telemarketers - And anyone calling me up acting like they've known me all my life (When I know they don't know me) generally get these responses .... and many times much worse.

:o So from now I will pick up my phone myself. Rather then telling someone else to pick it up and say that "I am not available". I also get many phonecalls and everytime I pick it up there is someone on the line who needs something or some help or some money.

Never in my life I got a phone call that something good has happened for me. Everytime I pick it up its loss loss and loss. So I finally stopped picking it up from last 2 years. Am happy now No more loss.

That is until somebody reports it to GoDaddy. Then they'll happily charge you and/or resell the domain.

Yes. I happened to me once. I put same fun/fake address and apparently a competitor decided to "punish" ( as he said ) me by reporting it to godaddy.

That is until somebody reports it to GoDaddy. Then they'll happily charge you and/or resell the domain.

Only if you don't reply, much more try to resolve the issue with them.

They'll charge you whether you reply or not. If you don't reply they'll sell it off on TDNAM.
