TM's aside, Nintendo released the official name for the next generation Nintendo games console: Wii (as in "we").

"Introducing... Wii.
As in "we."

While the code-name Revolution expressed our direction, Wii represents the answer. Wii will break down that wall that seperates videogame players from everybody else. Wii will put people more in touch with their games... and each other. But you're probably asking: What does the name mean?

Wii sounds like "we," which emphasizes the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.

Wii has a distinctive "ii" spelling that symbolizes both the unique controllers and the image of people playing it. And Wii, as a name and a console, brings something revolutionary to the world of videogames that sets it apart from the crowd.

So that's Wii. But now Nintendo needs you. Because it's really not about you or me. It's about Wii. And together, Wii will change everything."

There are so many portal names left, cant justify buying a domain for not reg fee
like wiiplanet totalwii wiiworld wiiuniverse wiihaw (oo, someone should reg that)

Hmmm, so xboxnetwork.com would be worth reg fee to you? I don't know how you'll develop wiigame.com, based on 1 game? Haha.

wiicode, based on 1 code for 1 game?

I said its not worth it for me, since there are so many portal domains out there.
Calm your jets.
The domains I have are high OVT value, xbox network is nothing.
I have had offers on wiigame for over 2k so far, thanks for asking.

and obviously wiigame isnt that bad, you wanted to buy it through pm.

Over 2k. Wake up from those dreams!

Could be possible, why not? People that are truly interested in it and have the pockets to back it up can easily pay this amount.
Even though the whole WII is totally fresh it's very plausible.

Yes I wanted to buy it for a very good reason, a reason that you are not aware of.

$2,000+ offers for the non-plural wiigame ? I would take that now and love the 285x profit... IMO

I'd think non-plural is the overall preferred form.. SE's don't care if there's an "s" on the end or not.. just my take and preference.

I'm thinking about the extra added type-in traffic with the plural 'games'

I didn't know James Bond posted here...

WiiGame.com is a good name...WiiGames.com would obviously be better.

However, what I'm wondering is why are people in such a hurry to sell the Wii names they just bought? Wait until after E3 when interest will be really high. Or just before E3 if you think their presentation at E3 will suck, lol.

Trying to outrun the potential C&D letters?

In my case, a quick turnover is always my goal when I buy on spec.

Well they do care, because do a search for "game" and "games" on Google and you'll see the difference.

Secondly, search engines don't care if it is games.some.other.tld either, but that doesn't mean it'll have same value now does it? Also I read this on Nintendo Forums, some person posted it:

"again, what I said on the Official name change thread, My distinct thought is that this name is some form of bait or something, then, when EVERYONE is paying all their attention to The N, they can reveal the real name."

That would be a little scary. And makes perfect sense. They'd steal E3. And they said there will be a big surprise at E3. What if the surprise is actually the fact that Wii is not the name? That is quite a surprise.

It's quite strange that there's no Wii (from Nintendo) at the US Trademark Office. Wait and see.
